Dazed, This country is becoming the new Africa. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if our beloved political ‘leaders’ don’t write a law to rename it ‘Afrimerica.” I better hurry and trademark that! Personally, I’m benefiting from all the chaos through certain strategies being implemented in the stock market. These have made me quite happy over these last few years. You have to be involved in the AI boom. It does make you wonder why corporations need all these illegal immigrants, millions of them, when advanced AI software is intended to eliminate a lot of workers. I think I’d rather trust a AI robot to secure a bolt to a door panel of a jetliner than a DEI idiot, as we have now. But not to worry, I hear Mayor Pete is being placed in charge of manufacturing at Boeing, so there won’t be any further issues with flight safety. I haven’t followed the news about Ecuador, because everything in our media world evolves around our despicable treatment of black slaves or the corruption of that evil felon, one Donald Trump. Funny thing is, I can’t think of a time when I or anyone I knew had a slave to boss around. Although I did work on my Uncles farm and felt like one, especially when it came to payday! Go figure. I always have to laugh when the talking heads state how smart Americans are or that they are waking up and things will change in 24. We’ll see.

On the portrait topic, there are a few that I’ve enjoyed over the years, One being Benjamin Franklin on those coveted half dollars, as that is an appealing portrait with a wicked eagle on the obverse. I’ve got nothing against Kennedy, but always felt they were too formal looking. Thanks CIA for that one! Augustus Saint-Gaudens liberty design is like the Mona Lisa, do you ever tire of looking at it? I’d rather have various versions of Lady Liberty on select coins, rather than formal portraits of ex presidents. That’s just my preference. I like the classics!

Creativity pool is gone. Well duh. But I don’t get your point. Sounds like you say portrait is a cop out. But you collect morgan peace (bust) and ase (full body pic). Morgan and peace basically unchanged for 100 years. 25 to 40 years of production and very little detail. Same for ase. Started in 80s and even after revamp, basically the same, the eagle changed, from full body to a bust. That was artistically different. But otherwise they all look like rubbing or traced from the previous year and they etched with same tools, granted maybe with shaking hands from alcohol withdrawal, or partying at the white house with hunter while daddy and secret service are in Delaware.

But you said looking forward to flowing hair, so that is another bust pic, not bust like failure as in tubman coin, also a pic or bust (face pic maybe?, since bust is usually Tataws and up). I liked the state park ones, showing some history and info, state coins limited subject matter as they tried to fit everything within border of the state.

Collect proof sets, but they are always the same usually, well except the Indian coin has a new pic each time, but jfk is the same and is Washington. Lincoln changed a couple times as did the back. But mostly everything is a portrait. Elizabeth was kinda cool as it changed with her age. Chuck is so old his will hardly ever change unless he grows a goatee or beard, or gets a cool scar from fighting a battle. But those days are over. Easy to say give that family 1 flag and a pin in a nice red oak box and toss in a couple bucks of taxpayer money, tax it of course, at a high rate, and only give them a small % of what their disability would have been, buy only if the spouse makes less than $14,000 a year, otherwise they make too much and don’t qualify for the $500 or so per month survivor benefit.

Maybe do a heraldic shield, family crest ,or get rid of face all together. Change the United States to Africa 2.0 and do the same to in God We Trust, to the media never lies. And write it all in spanish so our invaders can keep track what is happening and feel included. Throw in a pic of Xi as he owns 10% of America through his puppet.

I notice cnn doesn’t talk much about what happening in Ecuador. And the few things you read make it sound like the refugees from there have a right to be in Gaymerica, but it wasn’t that way 4 years ago or last year. It is sudden chaos. But those rough and rowdy and non law ABiden (new word, I coined it on a coin site… say what) people just bring their problems here, which, with defunding cops is not a good combo. But also, something else never said, is those same people fleeing their country due to whatever, come here, pay no taxes (usually) so don’t pay for their kid education or yours. They don’t give to the community, only church which is packed with their same skin folk, and the money never helps any American. But what isn’t said, as I started on is, once they sock their money away for years they go back to this life endangering country, home of cartel and rapists and they retire at young age. And send other family to do the same. As if suddenly, being retirement age ends all the problems. Their retirement age is 50s and 60s not 70s and 80s like our families. I guess people don’t want to admit they were fooled by peasants of uneducated third world countries (yalls words and description and their claims to leaving there) so is better to look other way

It should be Charles, but I have seen on Magic Mike’s HSN show, where a 2024 coin still had Elizabeth’s portrait on it. She was much more popular than Charles. Personally, I think mints started using ‘portraits’ on the obverse of coins because the artistic creativity pool is all but gone. See the reverse of our ASE for an example. That is one of the reasons I’m drawn to, and collect, pre-modern coinage. I still buy from the Mint but last year it was limited to the Morgans/Peace Dollars and the AGE. I’m hoping the mints price points for this years Flowing Hair coins will be somewhat reasonable, as I’d like to collect them. Time will tell.

So which do you prefer for the other half of the coin, Liz or Chuck? I’m guessing it must be easier to design a coin when you only need to worry about one side.

That does indeed ‘have a ring to it’ Dazed, but why ruin a good thing. The kookaburra coin is one of my favourites, especially in the 1 kilo offering, and let’s just appreciate the bird, not the turd. That has a ring to it also!

Have they tried putting a black person on the coins? Maybe replace kookaburra with a raven or chicken. Maybe they need an Asian koala bear. Yeah a panda maybe. With 7 stars randomly surrounding it and a hair pick.
