Hi Kaiser Wilhelm,
Do you read Archeology magazine (archeology.org) by any chance? I think it is great. Something they do that few other magazines do is include a map with each article showing where exactly the area is that they are talking about. If you do not know of it already, I think you would like it.

In reply to Dazed and Coinfused.

Speaking of points, you just made a "point" I have been telling you for a couple of months now, Dazed and Coinfused. The conversation was about why kids are not collecting coins, with a side mention of housing. What do EVs/ICE vehicles and the precious metals have to do with why kids are not collecting coins? It could have an effect in the future, if/as prices go up again, but it does not explain why they are not collecting now.
Then you bring up 97 year olds. I am again not getting the connection to kids not collecting coins or housing. The funny thing is I am guessing the 'turn to crap" part of it was meant as a partisan political dig, but both sides will agree with that statement.
Then you talk about your background, which is great. I love hearing about the voices that speak here. This is how we come together instead of being driven apart. Not the rest of it before this part, or after.
"Modern generation is all about the now and rarely have tangible things, they stream TV, they download games, no disc’s or cartridges, they buy digital gold, they invest in REIT and don’t own homes, yet complain corporate entities are buying em all and pricing then out the market, and are oblivious that they contributed to their own issue and continue to do so."---- The first part is the first time you mention why kids might not be collecting coins. Great, except its the third paragraph. Who wants to wade through partisan politics, empty opinions and off topics before they can get to what they came here for? (please, no one tell me that is exactly why you are here) The bolded part touches on the point Major D brought up himself about home buying. But then you go broad brush again--- Like in this wonderful partisan political empty opinion: "And if you forgive their student debt they’ll just jump on a plane, fly around the world and throw paint of museum paintings to complain about global warming."
They, they, they. I have told you before, stop blaming entire groups of people for what one individual does (maybe. I am not sure if this was even based on a real incident involving an American kid or not). So, you think all of our kids want to fly to a museum in a foreign country to damage artwork to complain about global warming so we better not forgive their student loans. Yeah, right. Hey, but at least your comment "owns the libs".
Major D is right you know. Not to mention you saying "they contributed to their own issue" makes you sound like a grumpy 80 year old, not someone in their 40s.
Here is some info on corporations buying homes in America, from TodaysHomeowner.com Sep 15, 2023 "Are Big Companies Really Buying Up Single-family Homes?"---"Over the last decade, the number of investors purchasing homes has increased from 10% to 15% each year, except for 2020 to 2021, which, according to a study by Redfin, saw an increase of over 80%. So, yes, investment and residential real estate companies are purchasing more and more American homes each year."---I have data showing Major D made a factual statement. They are making homes the kids could buy into rental properties that are then taken off the market. There is one right next door to me. The young couple wanted to buy it after a few years there, but the investment firm that owned it told them it is not for sale. They left. Do you have data confirming your statement? Share how exactly the kids "contributed to their own issue" concerning housing with me please, or consider yourself debunked. Nothing you said after that shows how the kids did it to themselves. Where is your data to back up such a statement? All the rest of your comments are just an incoherent, wandering mess of random thoughts that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic or side topic you were supposedly replying to Major D about. I might detour a bit in my replies while explaining my reasoning but there is a definite path from A to B to C, etc. Looks like you didn't get to A until the third paragraph, and just for part of a sentence before you went all angry old man and forget about the point altogether, which you just admitted. Do you think Major D was nodding along in agreement with this part? But you weren't really replying to Major D were you? You were speaking for another audience. I would like to say that I saw at least a pellet or two hit the target here, Dazed and Coinfused but I didn't see anything hitting any target except a partisan political one. You say things like "They’ll cut down a forest of trees to print signs that say save the rainforest." "save the rainforest" = Progressives. Plus are you saying the kids are in charge now? They are the ones telling the old folks who actually own the logging companies to cut down more trees? The kids did not create the system they are living in, previous generations did. Then this: "Gen x is the last of the Mohican. Last of the work hard and earn it.". Even at your young age, I cannot believe you do not know that every generation has been saying that about the ones that follow since the first kids became teenagers. This comment makes you sound older than I am. Those pesky kids! Get off my lawn! Not to mention, even this post I am replying to has nothing to do with why kids are not collecting coins or housing. Since you admit this post contains the point you were trying to make, you are admitting you never replied to Major D with the intention of talking about why kids are not collecting coins, and only part of one sentence of your whole rant touched on his side topic of housing.
You know, I would like to point out that if this post was the point you were trying to make to Major D, it stands just fine on its own. Not one thing you said in that whole rant was needed to make the point you claim you meant to make in the first place.
But if you did not care about the topics Major D brought up, why reply to him at all? Could it have been for political reasons? Trying to goad him, perhaps? Not to mention, don't you think the point in this post would fit better on any one of the precious metal articles instead of one about Mint sales?
Since I am already replying to this whole mess anyway, I might as well respond to what you said specifically in this post too.
I wonder if we really are using less of the precious metals in cars, or it was just the perception or people trying to jump in front of a trend? I do agree if "slowing demand for EVs" articles keep appearing for long enough, then precious metal prices will rise again. I just wonder if they have been dropping until now because of perception or reality. I do enough searching of topics here already, I don't feel like looking that up, but if someone else already knows the answer or feels like looking it up, I wouldn't mind hearing the factual answer. I am getting tired of hearing divisive opinions here with little connection to the actual reality.

Perhaps I spoke to soon. I see the one of yours I just commented on was from 2 days ago, this one says 1, but I know the timestamp is not very precise. I hope you didn't add more partisan political comments to this one because I did not comment to your first one by the time you generated this one.
Anyway, let me ask you about this one:
"I got the verify mail from mint so I guess my order for 2 limited sets will be sent shortly. Wondering if I should reduce to just 1. Since it’s first ever RP for both coins I can see future value or collectability , but since the other versions this year failed to sellout first few days and the pre-order not full with almost a year of time to subscribe I think maybe it’ll be a while before large gains made. Unless they stamp a ton similar to the Denver Morgan previously making 70s rare to find. But with the woke crowd taking over like zombies, I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled a gotcha and pressed Tracy Morgan as the face of the coin." ---Why is it so important to you to keep making partisan political comments on a coin site?
Must you always try to anger at least one person with each of your comments? What value did this add to your comment other than partisan politics which has no real value on a coin site unless you are trying to start arguments here.
"As far as awq. Have you noticed since women went all liberal and started working that health of everyone got worse? When they stayed in the kitchen things were better. I can’t recall seeing hardly any fat people in old photographs or magazines. Jennifer Lopez was the first to be considered big, now everywhere you look is full of Lizzoes. Heck I think Barbie got so fat to reflect the times that she comes in 2 boxes. Modern day Ken is available as a thrift store shopper and buys all of Barbie’s old clothes to wear."----This whole paragraph sucks. There is no polite way to say it. It is a completely partisan political comment from beginning to end which holds no value here, a coin site that is supposed to be welcoming to all. When do you say women went "all liberal"? From USAfacts.org, "US obesity rates have tripled over the last 60 years" Apr 26, 2023. Has a chart which I cannot paste here. Feel free to check it out if you disagree with my summary. If you are equating poor health to liberal women it looks to me like women got liberal under Reagan and H.W. Bush then. I am guessing that is not what you were implying, you meant more recently, didn't you? The chart shows between 1980 and 1988 severe obesity doubled. With a few exceptions it has risen steadily ever since. 2003-2004 it went down. 2009-2012 it stayed the same. When they stayed in the kitchen things were better? What is this, 1960? Share your misogyny with your friends over a beer in private, not in public. I mean if you really feel you must share this kind of stuff in public isn't there a better place to do so than a coin site with a diverse audience? How many times do I have to say this is not RepublicanCoin News.net? I have only seen a few women make comments here, but I guarantee there are some watching (this would be a good time for a woman to speak up). I would not mind having some women's voices regularly represented here. As for Jennifer Lopez being the first to be considered big, I have to ask what the heck you are talking about? Big as in physically or famously? If you meant physically, unless you share a source, I am going to call that pure BS. If you meant famously, are you trying to say obese people should not be allowed to be famous? If you don't like her, ignore her, don't insult any fans she may have here. Not that it is any better than the others, but I don't care about your Barbie joke (I assume) since the only one that I think would be offended here would be Mattel. The problem is that if all the previous statements were laying the foundation for your little joke, I am sorry to inform you that there was no foundation. Regarding your serious question, while I did not collect them, the reason I did not is because I could not stand Bush Jr. and knew that I would probably dislike some other Presidents in the future. Hopefully everyone who did collect them thought of this issue as well before they started, though knowing the nature of people, I am sure some did not. I think the best solution for people who already started collecting them would be to still get the ones you do not like (to be current) and then divide the Presidents into Conservative and Progressive sets and sell off the other one immediately, then just get the ones from "your side" going forwards. Sadly, I am sure there will be a market for sets such as those. How far we have fallen as a nation.

Unless they stamp a ton similar to the Denver Morgan previously making 70s rare to find. But with the woke crowd taking over like zombies, I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled a gotcha and pressed Tracy Morgan as the face of the coin.” —Why is it so important to you to keep making partisan political comments on a coin site?
Must you always try to anger at least one person with each of your comments? What value did this add to your comment other than partisan politics which has no real value on a coin site unless you are trying to start arguments here.
“As far as awq. Modern day Ken is available as a thrift store shopper and buys all of Barbie’s old clothes to wear.“—-This whole paragraph sucks. There is no polite way to say it. It is a completely partisan political comment from beginning to end which holds no value here, a coin site that is supposed to be welcoming to all. When do you say women went “all liberal”? From USAfacts.org, “US obesity rates have tripled over the last 60 years” Apr 26, 2023. Has a chart which I cannot paste here. Feel free to check it out if you disagree with my summary. If you are equating poor health to liberal women it looks to me like women got liberal under Reagan and H.W. Bush then. I am guessing that is not what you were implying, you meant more recently, didn’t you? The chart shows between 1980 and 1988 severe obesity doubled. With a few exceptions it has risen steadily ever since. 2003-2004 it went down. 2009-2012 it stayed the same. When they stayed in the kitchen things were better? What is this, 1960? Share your misogyny with your friends over a beer in private, not in public. I mean if you really feel you must share this kind of stuff in public isn’t there a better place to do so than a coin site with a diverse audience? How many times do I have to say this is not RepublicanCoin News.net? I have only seen a few women make comments here, but I guarantee there are some watching (this would be a good time for a woman to speak up). I would not mind having some women’s voices regularly represented here. As for Jennifer Lopez being the first to be considered big, I have to ask what the heck you are talking about? Big as in physically or famously? If you meant physically, unless you share a source, I am going to call that pure BS. If you meant famously, are you trying to say obese people should not be allowed to be famous? If you don’t like her, ignore her, don’t insult any fans she may have here. Not that it is any better than the others, but I don’t care about your Barbie joke (I assume) since the only one that I think would be offended here would be Mattel. I think the best solution for people who already started collecting them would be to still get the ones you do not like (to be current) and then divide the Presidents into Conservative and Progressive sets and sell off the other one immediately, then just get the ones from “your side” going forwards. Sadly, I am sure there will be a market for sets such as those. How far we have fallen as a nation.

Hi Craig,
Everything goes in cycles, I am sure they will go back to "sleep " soon enough. I do not think there are many Black collectors that can afford Gold coins. For example, from EarthWeb "HOW MANY BLACK MILLIONAIRES IN AMERICA ARE THERE IN 2023?" July 20, 2023: Among millionaires, Blacks make up 8.8%, Whites 76%. Do you thinks Black are the majority of any of the income levels except the lowest ones? I don't. Already being a minority, that means there was not a broad base of Black customers to start with. Maybe the Mint was actually hoping young Progressive White people would have been interested. Apparently, not so much. I think the Mint just has too many different products period. If the 1999 State Quarter Program had not turned out so successful you would not be seeing all these changes today, in my opinion. Perhaps they should try to find subjects everyone can agree on, but perhaps there are no such subjects in our divided society today. Perhaps they are going to have to alternate programs for each side going forward and you will just have to wait for your turn. Maybe we will let the voters decide. When it is a Democrat in charge, Progressive icons. When it is a Republican, Conservative icons.

HI Dazed and Coinfused,
Nice Post. I don't agree with everything with you said, but this was well put together. You are still slipping in a few potentially inflammatory comments but this is light years better than your older ones. Thanks!
Let me ask you about this paragraph:
"With current inflation, economy, threat of war on at least 4 fronts (Russia, China, N Korea, and Hamas) the 200+% markup on most silver offerings is abysmal. Especially with coins not being 99.99 or 99.95 pure and a full ounce. Bars and rounds will probably be more preferential as time moves on, that’s where I am headed. Plus too many people butt hurt over the folks on coins. Washington, slave owner, Jefferson, slave owner, Jackson, Trail of tears, Lincoln, apparently hero to blacks and traitor to whites, Franklin, womanizer, Grant, hero to some villain to others. But VIsa and Master Card seem safe even though visa also means immigration and Master is obviously racist. Discover probably is racist or colonialism due to Columbus. And American express black surprises me as in this current climate it should be the African American express."
The part I didn't bold was great, you made a valid point. Even naming specific things is fine for detail and emphasis. It was an entirely true statement, people do butt heads over those choices, I was just conversing with Salivate Metal on that same topic. The part I bolded was not necessary and where a heated political argument might erupt from, you already made your point quite well with the first part. See what I mean?
I hope you have no hard feelings for me over my pushback earlier (Craig either), all I have doing here is trying a small experiment here to see if our country can still be saved or we are doomed to accomplish what the Confederates tried in 1860, separation into two separate countries. I love this country, and it was bothering me enough to see the fighting everywhere else much less becoming the same way here. I decided to try to do something about it. Can't do much at my income level, but I can speak up. If both sides can talk to each other civilly here, then perhaps the country can be saved as well. If we cannot manage to see the humanity on both sides when we already have something in common to start with here (coins), then I fear the nation is doomed. I can see you made a real effort here. Try to go just a little bit farther, and I think you could be a great debater for your side. You might even persuade a few from the other side, rather than just make them angry.
I am not sure why exactly (Perhaps I feel we share a poorer background?), but I have liked you since you showed up here. The problem I had was your comments got more and more politically inflammatory as time went on. Please do not take that path again, all right?

Hi Craig,
I tend to agree with you. Death throes. Will we even be using and minting physical coins to collect in 50 more years? It might all be digital currency by then. The government might eventually offer us a small premium to our digital accounts for turning in our physical coins. I won't be here in 50 years either. At my age and income level, even 25-30 more years would be surprising to me. Last time I saw a doctor was for an employment physical in 1997 and last time I had health care was 2007. As far as I know I am still healthy, but once I am not, I will be done quickly unless universal health care somehow becomes a real thing here before then. I have already survived 50% longer than I had ever expected to since I was about 20 years old (exposure to nasty industrial chemicals. Thought I would be dead by 40 from that job. Guess my genes were better than I realized) and am not a big fan of doctors anyway, so I do not care about universal health care for me personally but as you know my politics already you do know I would like to see it for the entire nation eventually, even if it happens after I am gone.

Hi Craig,
I also want to collect all of them (in proof), with a caveat. I do not really like the scramble because of that. I also got all the ones I wanted in 2021. I didn't want the fake O and CC ones, actually minted in Philadelphia. I just thought that was a money grab so I couldn't support it. If the mint had done the same in 1921 (the only old Morgan's I own), I would have considered picking them up this time. I cannot afford the markups on the secondary market, so if I wouldn't have scored the 2021s I wanted, I can tell you I would not have bothered with buying any of them going forward.
If others feel like do, then the mint will lose more (future) business with the scrambles than if they minted to demand at the time.
I am not flipper either, I buy to keep, with only 2 exceptions made in 2009 and 2010, of which I still haven't sold those 2 extra's (but might be soon). I am still peeved I missed out on a 2017 ASE because of the scramble. I logged on early like I had been doing for about a decade already, but could not get a transaction to go through. It really affected my enthusiasm for ASEs. That was the only one I have gotten locked out of so far since I started collecting them around 2006. I do not think it should be the Mint's business to determine how rare something should be, we should. Minting to subscriptions would stop the scrambles, while there would still be rarities when something ends up with low subscriptions in the end. The Mint would have to treat pre-release subscription numbers as top secret to prevent the insiders from knowing which to buy and which to skip beforehand. Just my idea. I have mentioned it before here.
