OGP for me too. I was also thinking not too long ago how my silver coins sure are starting to take up space. If I would have started collecting gold coins instead of silver I would have been able to afford only a small fraction of the quantity of coins I have now and it would be easier to dispose of my collection someday. No tarnish to worry about, either.

Sounds to me like California is calling you Seth! It’s pretty much a demo run state and from what people tell me it’s like living in heaven.

I’m not bitter. I just think that there are more people put there that could use this experience. Did they get a scholarship? Maybe. Did parents buy a building and name it after them so their kids could get in? Maybe. Most probable, parents are doing really well and are paying for them to attend. Which is why I asked how much this trip would cost out of pocket. I used my gi bill. But due to disabilities the degrees do me no good. I got into UT of Austin. Felt pretty good earning a slot at the 40s age timeline. I also think that since college sports players get paid, they shouldn’t take up an academic slot. College is for learning. And with the amount most of the players are making they can easily afford to enter, but their 2.0 GPA keeps many from being accepted.

Just tired of people that don’t need help getting all the benefits. Will they drop out and open a coin shop? Work at one? No. Probably not. Will they continue coin collecting? Maybe. Will they invest funds into cds, stocks, 401, Ira, probably. Maybe they’ll get into art or rare albums or vintage electronics. Who knows. I don’t know the kids. Have nothing against them. Buy why can’t shaniqua from river city community College win? Who knows, maybe no poor people entered, maybe they didn’t promote it in disenfranchised schools. Maybe poor kids can’t afford to collect coins. My Uncle showed me coins and Stamos. That was cool for a while, but then I got into baseball cards because I played baseball. But was bored November to April. Read comic books. Started buying bags and holders. Then branched into football, baseball and basketball after I bought a shoebox for $50 and found a Wayne Gretzky rookie, a bobby hull 2nd year, Ozzie Smith rookie, Rickey Henderson rookie, wilt chamberlain, Lou alcindor, Julius earvin, Larry bird. Started attending shows where it was mixes. Cards coins stamps and comics. But mainly baseball card shows. Being 7 to 9 years old dealing with mostly grown collectors. Not kids that just wanted certain players or teams. Learned all about business and bartering and buying. Where in boxes to reach to better your odds of finding a certain rookie. Or spending hours going through rack packs trying to see enough of a card to ID it as worth buying (Kmart, Montgomery ward) without damaging the cards. Finding an 89 fleet with KG Jr as front card was one of the best finds. But market flooded a few years later and I stopped. Bowman came back, then like 4 different upper deck, pinnacle, score, pro set etc. Now jersey cards, bat cards, glove pieces, autographs, holograms, and other gimmicks. Shows went from hundreds and thousands per day over the weekend to maybe 10 to 20 all weekend. Unless in a mall, then you might get 1 or 2 people stop and ask about this or hand you a 5,000 count monster box of commons they want you to sort through and then ask for you to pay them for their card what your selling the same card in your case for.

No I don’t fault these kids at all. I wish em the best, but something tells me they won’t maximize the opportunity. I also don’t think a kid that got a 4.5 GPA should get refused College and lose his application fee because someone with a 2.0 got to apply to every college free and got in because of diversity. It says in the name University of Michigan. Not Diversity of Michigan. I am not salty at all. I earned everything I have and I am way ahead of most people. But I’m always about helping those less fortunate that want to help themselves. If it were me, I’d probably record the seminar and gift coins or bars in the amount of the trip.

Can’t wait to grow my collection exponentially. 1, 2, 4, 16, 256, 65536, 4294967296…

I also don’t like when people that are doctors, or lawyers, or executives, or high earners win the huge lottery jackpots. Or people that spend $50,000 on a family Disney vacation every year and just bought 1 ticket at a gas station and hit for $1,000,000.

I root for the people that spent their life savings to pay for life saving treatments. Or that volunteer all the time. Oh what fun.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is an arsehole & our Texas Attorney General is also an arsehole! Both are Republicans. That is the bad part about living in Texas now…
Bats like you mentioned…the largest population of Mexican free-tailed bats live in the huge cave & under bridge in Austin – leading to not many mosquitos or other insect pests they feed on each night. And their guano is best fertilizer!
