Yep! I wish the U.S. Mint would issue that press release at least once a year. Unfortunately, the Mint’s public relations department isn’t as savy as the coin grading services & the wealthy coin dealers who promote such nonsense. The uninformed people get ripped off – sad, but true.

Oh my gosh Seth, are you saying that even though the mint has explicitly said that the order coins are shipped has nothing to do with the order in which they are minted, and that grading services don’t provide certificates detailing what aspects of a coin it has excelled in, there are dealers that will charge a exorbitant prices for an coin with a label early release MS70, I am shocked.

A good commemorative would be Vladimir Zworykin, known as the “father of television,” invents the iconoscope – an electronic camera tube used to scan an image. Think of what 100 years has brought us: We’ve gone from rudimentary television to cutting-the-cord, streaming channels with optional commercials.

As many channels as magic mike is on, I mean that one exclusive channel he sells on, it would be a fitting tribute. Or could honor tuts tomb opening. Since it was loaded with gold. I am tempted to cancel all except 2 coin set. I passed on the silver quarters this year. And gold. Probably pass on palladium. Just not seeing anything special.

I remember when the U.S. Mint issued some commemorative coin sets in hard wood solid cherrywood presentation boxes. Of course, back then you could get a silver $1 coin for $29.95 & a $5 gold coin for around $200 in the 80s & 90s.

You are so right. These “tribute” Morgan & Peace dollars for 2023 are going to be so very common. You can buy “real” original common date Morgan & Peace dollars struck from 1878 to 1904 & 1921 to 1935 graded/slabed by PCGS or NGC for $80 or less!
But, the Mint didn’t produce any in 2022 & the lower mintages of the 2021 issues which many were unable to get due to sellout, has created a FOMO situation for the 2023 issues. The big dealers are salivating at being able to offer these in 70 grade with all kinds of confusing “special labels” at exorbitant prices that unknowledgeable collectors will purchase due to the hype/hysteria surrounding their issue later this year.
The 2-coin Reverse Proof set is possibly the exception, & will sell out on the first day of issue I think.
The fact that there are no commemorative coins being issued by the Mint this year for the first time since 1985, gives the Mint the time to produce the large quantities of these silver dollars. Plus, collectors have more money in their budget since they don’t have to spend anything on commemorative coins this year to keep their collection updated.
