It’s a nice design and I’ve always wondered why it wasn’t issued for circulation. Also the Flying Eagle One Cent. I don’t see a valid reason, unless it was something behind the scenes. We may never know.

I’ve always liked that rendition. Too bad neither coin made it to a long life as currency. I also like the Flying Eagle reverse, which is also on the later one dollar gold coins and three dollar gold coin. It’s interesting in its symbolism and look.
