In reply to Tom. Kaiser, I do a real quick look with a magnifying glass. The question of course will be whether all the silver proofs are that way, or just one die. You can tell the difference between the silver nickel and the regular proof nickel.

Received silver proof set today.
My one comment is on the nickel. The top of the B on Pluribus appears to be a bit over polished so it almost doesn’t show

EC Guru, your comments and speculation appear to be correct. These one ounce burnished AGE coins have much lower mintages than the one ounce proof AGEs, yet their increase in values in the secondary market are similar to the proof AGE coins, unlike the first spouse gold coins which are in a market class of their own and trend in value more like the commemorative gold coins.
It’s hard to say what may happen with prices and values in the near term. However, in the long term you will most likely always make a profit. Anyone who purchased gold coins from the Mint between 1986 and 2008 has made a nice profit at this time; But after gold shifted into second gear in 2009, purchases made between 2010 and 2021 have not shown much appreciation.
Continuing with the comparison of the lowest mintage One Ounce Burnished AGEs and the Proof AGEs, for what its worth, here are the 5 lowest mintage $50 Proof AGEs (not including the End of World War II 75th Anniversary American Eagle Gold Proof Coin):
2021-W Type 1 $50 AGE Proof mintage = 12,609
2019-W $50 AGE Proof mintage = 14,695
2018-W $50 AGE Proof mintage = 15,565
2021-W Type 2 $50 AGE Proof mintage = 15,741
2020-W $50 AGE Proof mintage = 17,357

In reply to Rich. Rich, even at these low mintages for the burnished AGE I don’t see much of an increase in value on the secondary market. Are these coins going to become similar to the first spouse gold coins? I hope not. Maybe I am missing something. Precious metals are taking a big dive recently. I wonder if this is the calm before the storm. Capital flowing to the US making the dollar strong /commodities weak. It won’t last forever. Could be a great buying opportunity right now. Or maybe even better in a few months.
