2022-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle Release

52

Today at noon EDT, the United States Mint will release their 1-ounce, .999 fine 2022-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle. How many will be available is unknown at this point as their entire inventory was earlier consumed by enrollments.

Orders for those enrollments will be processed by the time of the coin’s release, and that should free up some for purchase.

"Customers may still have an opportunity to purchase … after enrollment orders are reconciled," the U.S. Mint stated. "All inventory resulting from cancellations, invalid, and/or fraudulent orders will be made available to the general public."

U.S. Mint American Silver Eagles debuted in 1986 in both bullion and proof editions. Twenty years later, collector-grade uncirculated Silver Eagles were added to the Mint’s line-up. The uncirculated Silver Eagle is produced at the U.S. Mint’s facility in West Point.

Coin Designs

Every American Silver Eagle version has always carried the same basic obverse (heads side) imagery — Adolph A. Weinman’s classic Walking Liberty design which first appeared on 1916-1947 half-dollars and depicts Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag. Her right hand is extended while her left hands holds branches of laurel and oak. This design saw enhancements last year when the U.S. Mint utilized historical assets and modern-day technology to better render Weinman’s original work.

"Thanks to technological advancements in the design and minting process, it now encompasses some of Weinman’s original details that were not previously possible," the U.S. Mint describes.

Among enhanced details is the inclusion of Weinman’s traditional artist mark. Other inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2022."

Along with the enhanced obverse imagery in 2021, the U.S. Mint introduced a completely new reverse (tails side). Created by Emily Damstra and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, the newer design appears on all 2022 American Silver Eagles — bullion, proof and this uncirculated edition.

Reverses depict an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to a nest. Reverse inscriptions read: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR."

A reeded edge variation was also added as an enhanced security measure.

Problems again with the mint. They cannot find my enrollments. Called the Mint and they said everythings looks correct, but the order was not completed. Claimed that a supervisor will contact me and look closer at the problem. I am sure that sold-out Mike has his order completed.

Mmk

60963 will be available for sale at 12pm
at 3 per household should not sell out immediately

Allan

Richard

Sorry to hear this, good luck with your call back. Give the noon hour a chance. HOL was set to 3 so there may be more enrollment coins than expected available for the great race.

Richard J Margolis

I got on line at noon and completed purchase for 2 coins at 12:03. No problems. If I get the coins from enrollment, I can send them back or sell for small profit

TheKings714

Richard,

I have heard anecdotally that if the total number of coins ordered plus enrollment exceeds the HOL of the product, they will cancel the coins that exceed the limit when they reconcile. Again, this is folklore as I have been on the ASE enrollment programs for years with no issues so good luck to you. I hope you get all the coins you want but please let us know if the mint pulls any funny business with the orders.

Cheers!

sam tweedy

No need to worry!!!! Mike Mezack the “KING” of coin collecting has got you covered for a great deal!!!! ANACS ANACS ANACS>>>>>>>>>>> UNDERSTAND!!!!!! LOL!!!!

Allan

Major

He does 3 hours of coin sales on TV every Friday and Saturday at 4am Eastern. Also a random 30 min show on various channels early in the AM all week. He does high pitched sales stressing the rarity and urgency to buy, buy, buy, now, quantity is incredible limited! Hope this gives you an idea of who he is.

Allan

Correction, his show is Saturday and Sunday at 4am.

Larry

Got a email this morning letting me know my enrolment order has been. shipped. With 160,000 plus coins minted, there will be plenty for anyone who wants them.

Daniel

Too easy.
I wasn’t able to get on the enrolment program, so was pleasantly surprised.
That said, with the volume, it shouldn’t have been a problem, I’ve just been conditioned for the worst from previous years’ experience. I think the flippers have moved on to other products

Larry

Daniel,

That coupled with high inflation is putting a damper on what people are willing to pay for ‘collectables.’

Daniel

That’s certainly true. I’ve got a couple of older cars in the garage whose worth serves as an incredible bell weather for how the economy is going. The toys are always the first thing to lose value when times start getting tough.

Larry

Are those a couple of old BMW’s? They might lose a little value, but they sure aren’t making them anymore. Here, in the states, I’m always amazed at some of the prices for classic muscle cars. If only I could go back in time!

Rooster

Enrollments have shipped. They were in processing mode last night.

victor

No problem ordering 2 for me.

Antonio

The quickest, easiest order so far. No bot test either. I’m glad the Mint finally fixed the glitch that was such a problem in the past. Or maybe orders are just low. It seems like the proof W ASE is by far the most sought after coin.

Rich

Antonio, you are right about the proof W ASE popularity, even though the proof S ASE and uncirculated W ASE have much lower mintage/sales.

Allan

The 2021 Burnished Silver Eagle was MM’s first ANAC slabbed autograph release. The second one is in the works, that autograph is worth waiting for.

Larry

Allen,

Those MM signature graded coins, I believe he has an exclusive agreement with NGC, is so collectable that MM has some in his personal collection. He’s not being narcissistic, he just knows value when he sees it. Only in America.

Allan

Larry

Thanks for the correction. Guess I did not pay enough attention to his sales pitch.

gary

picked one up at 1:20 PM no problem

richard

i think they made everyone think it was sold out so they could sell these cause they are still up for sale,so much for them being worth anything lol

FViia

Short supply? More MINT crap.

Ron

I’m wondering if the coun is worth $65, I looked up a 2010 uncirculated and it is now selling for $35?

Rich

Ron, I would be wary of purchasing 2010-W Uncirculated (Burnished) Silver American Eagles at any price since none were minted that year. The Mint did not offer or produce any Silver, Gold or Platinum Uncirculated (Burnished) American Eagles in 2009 and 2010.

Domenic

Just got my “shipped” email from enrollment at 11am PST

Antonio

I never received an email. One day I looked in my mail and it was there.

Rich

The 2022-W Uncirculated (Burnished) ASE data-available = 38,416 at 2pm ET.

Rich

Update: data-available = 32,832 at 6pm ET. The pace of sales has slowed down since the initial sales burst following the 12pm ET release.

Major D, you are correct about the slower sales pace for this year’s uncirculated W ASE, especially compared to last year’s release which sold out much faster, probably due to the novelty of being the first year of issue with the new Type 2 reverse design. BTW, at 9:30am ET (6/2/2022) data-available = 30,568 for the 2022-W Uncirculated ASE. I will try to record the data-available number at 12pm noon just before the HOL is lifted, and also try to record the time it sells out today.

East Coast Guru

Hi Rich, I don’t know how to determine the number of ASE’s are available now at 6pm ET using my cellphone. Can you post? Also, any over/under predictions for this going CU? I say the first CU is 1 pm tomorrow. It will open up with returns about a week later. Just my guess. The mints website had no hiccups at all at the opening bell. I could check my prior order history too without any problems so I knew the demand was going to be light.

Daniel

Go to the page for the 2022-W Uncirculated coin: American Eagle 2022 One Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin – US Mint Hit Ctrl-U or right click on the white part of the screen and choose view page source. Hit Ctrl-F and search for data-available That will then display the text data-available=”31675.0“ where the amount remaining is the number to the right of the equals sign. That tells you at 8pm US ET time, there are 31,675 coins remaining. I’m guessing some big player will come in and op them all up when HOL is lifted, even if they aren’t selling well.… Read more »

Daniel

Well I don’t live in the US, so I’m not that close to the subtleties of the NLB … but even I shudder at the optics of a product with “Negro” emblazoned on it. A celebration of people trying to work around discrimination?

I can’t imagine it was ever going to be a big seller

Rich

Major D, it was a surprise to see the NLB Silver Medal Set back on sale along with the the NLB Privy Proof, the two best sellers of the NLB commems when they went on pre-sale back on January 6th. This is what happens when there is a long time period between when the coin is released for pre-sale and when it finally ships out (in this case almost 4 months). Something similar to this happened with the 2021 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars last year. And I wonder if it will also happen to the Purple Heart Colorized Silver… Read more »

Major D, the under 200,000 Uncirculated (Burnished) ASE club currently has 7 members (here are the mintage figures):
2011-S = 99,882
2018-W = 138,947
2019-W = 141,030
2020-W = 154,861
2017-W = 176,739
2013-W = 178,941
2021-W Type 2 = 185,893
(The next lowest mintage is the 2015-W = 201,188)

Antonio

I see as of June 16th, it’s still available.

East Coast Guru

Thanks Daniel.

Rich

Hi EC Guru, I first learned the technique of determining the data-available for Mint products from a posting by Daniel. He has kindly provided it again here for you. You are correct about the light demand for the the 2022-W Uncirculated ASE. I also think it will initially go CU between 1pm and 3pm today (6/2/2022) after the HOL is lifted.

Jeannie

Beautiful coin

Antonio

I prefer this design to the Type 1. I never cared for the heraldic reverse. I felt the Mint could do better. Type 2 is an improvement.

Rich

After the first 24 hours of sales, at 12pm noon (6/2/2022) data-available = 30,016. Now with no HOL, let’s see if it becomes unavailable today.

East Coast Guru

REB

Still over 18,000 available over 12 hours after the high noon race-to-sellout start time. What’s going on? Have the speculators moved on to NFTs? Are collectors boycotting? Are coin buyers worrying more about filling the tank than filling the safe?

Sales seem to be sluggish across most options this year. I personally like it as I’ve had more drama-free orders this year versus previous years.

East Coast Guru

Plus with all the dealer 40 coin trays being sold in addition to the 160,000 mintage seems to be an over abundance of W burnished coins.

Rooster

About a week before going on sale I adjusted all my enrollments down.

Rooster

Major D: I have all my subscriptions high and adjust them mainly for gift giving. I have a weakness for the higher mintage proofs and buy more of those. I thought the mintage of the uncirculated silver eagle to be in a sweet spot. Not happy about the price increase of late but still in the game.

Antonio

Get them while they’re hot, as of 11 a.m. EST, Friday, June 3rd, 18,013 are still available.

Antonio

As of Monday morning, June 6th, there are 15,995 coins available. It didn’t think their sales would last this long. Will wonders never cease?

Antonio

June 9th, coin number has increased, 16,086 as of 11:30 a.m. EST.

Mike Petraitis

What I do not understand is the US mint sends you an e mail saying your order has shipped you track the package and it says no label has been created yet two weeks later it finally ships so it stays in the warehouse for two weeks. Why do they say it has been shipped then?

Paul

The order is marked “SHIPPED” on the US Mint website when the “fulfillment department” puts the coins in an addressed box, moves the box to a “shipment area”, and notifies the shipper that the box is available to be picked up. It can take a while for the shipper to pick up the box and start shipping. You and I do not consider it shipped until the shipper picks it up. But the US Mint considers it shipped when the coins in your order are boxed and addressed. I have seen up-to 7-day delays between when an order of mine… Read more »
