Antonio, you can’t beat the deal you originally got on that key date set, the holy grail of American Eagle sets. So what ever the grade or ungraded, its all gravy. Certainly, if you had gotten a grade of Proof-70 for the 1995-W ASE, you would have hit the jack-pot. Not sure if your coin is graded PCGS or NGC, but if it is PCGS, the PCGS Price Guide price for the PR-70 is $19,000, while the PR-69 price = $3,275 and the PR-68 price = $2,700 (as of 3/23/2022).

Nevertheless, I love my set. It only cost me $999. The only downer is my ASE came back to me graded PF68.

Wise Kaiser, the irony is thick, indeed. I had the 1/2 oz in my cart. And could not buy it. Knew I was racing the clock. Got 3-4 buy attempts in — before it went to Back Order, then no-way-mate. Sad. Frustrated. Covered in irony.

You are welcome, Kaiser Wilhelm. I do not see Trump as a complex individual with complex motives, so I doubt your cover theory. Still possible, though. I am guessing your honey pot theory involves something like Trump in a compromising position and photo’s? I do not think that would work on him unless it happened during or after his Presidency. My theory is he accepted a secret loan (under who knows what terms) from the Russian Government/Putin sometime between 2010-2015 (because banks were refusing to loan to him anymore) and used part or all of the money to buy and develop a Scottish golf course (in 2014, perhaps after the Trump Tower Moscow thing fell through?). No Evil Genius setting in motion a years or decades long plot. No blackmail victim. Just a business man with no ethics and money problems accepting a loan from a shady source. Nothing out of the ordinary. Business as usual. It was not a problem until he became President. Suddenly (eventually?), he realizes if the American public finds out one of our Presidents is in debt to Russia/Putin for 10s or 100s of millions of dollars while they ran for, and during their whole term in office he will be in big trouble. What does he do? He keeps it secret, and is very nice to the country/person holding his loan, perhaps even making concessions to Russia/Putin as President that were not necessarily in the best interests of the United States, but were in his. That is my theory for now. Subject to change if new information comes to light. For example, the jury is still out as to whether the Scottish Government will investigate where the cash he used to buy and develop the property came from (using an unexplained wealth law designed to prevent criminals from laundering their ill gotten gains). From what I have read, Trump always borrows money from others for his projects, never pays cash. If that statement is true, it does make me wonder what made him decide to pay cash that particular time, and if it is possible he is actually a money launderer. Seems hard to believe, but I cannot say impossible. Instead of getting a loan from Russia/Putin then, the money he spent would be his cut for laundering Putin/oligarch money. Perhaps the money laundering theory is more likely than the loan theory. He would really, really need to keep that secret from us and he would still need to be nice to Putin. Haha, call that my new theory for now. Subject to change if new information comes to light…

It definitely is fun and going to these shows would help with the process. I have come to the conclusion to enjoy them as shipped from the mint. I got caught up in the first strike designation but came to my personal conclusion that it doesn’t matter. What matters to me is the grade. I can tell if a coin is a 69 or 70 from past experiences and no longer need a grading company to confirm it. The last time I sent in 3 gold eagles. I knew they would grade 70 and they did with the “Early Releases” (NGC) designation. I do like how compact the PCGS coin holder boxes are compared to storing the ungraded coins. Any way a collector collects is fine by me. Make sure your family members know the value of your coins. Many of these graded coins get treated as bullion when selling to the local “We Buy Gold” stores you see on every other block.

Hey Rooster. I definitely agree with you on the price of grading. I like taking them to the shows so I don’t pay the shipping cost to them. That saves some money. I also use a Zeiss D36 3x,6x,9x pocket magnifier to inspect the coins before submitting them. If I don’t think it will grade well I won’t submit it. At the 2021 Chicago ANA world fair of money I submitted 20 coins on different forms. Some were from Canada and some were silver, gold, 1’palladium eagle 2020 and 1 platinum maple leaf I got 16 70s and 3 PF69 and 1 AU58. But that was the 2020 -W bat quarter and the only one that I have ever found in my change. So I submitted it just for fun. I knew it wasn’t going to grade well. I have some medical problems so if something happens to me it will hopefully help my family if they ever have to sell them. Because I don’t sell my coins.

Yeah thanks. I think having fiber optic internet definitely helps. I haven’t opened the box yet to see if I managed to get a signed one. When I got to the Long Beach coin show or the ANA world fair of money I will probably submit them with PCGS. I like the new NFC technology they use to prevent counterfeits. I always open the box with them so I can get first strike and I always take a picture of the coin in front of them. Plus it saves me money on shipping them in. I just pay for return shipping. Plus having them graded saves space from all the OGP packaging and I can bring them home with me.
