Mike: Way to go. I think everyone will be pleased with these as you and I. I only got my first single coin colorized Purple Heart and without a doubt one of the finest coins ever.

I got my entire set of Purple Heart coins today. The colorized one is not overdone so it is elegant. While it is the most eye-catching, all are stunning.

They did do a great job on those ones. I’m happy to see they’re still minted, although at a much lower mintage. I believe you paid this price because of the number of coins you bought, I only bought one. $4000 would have been too much for me. I still have my original receipt from the U.S. Mint. The following year the price went up accordingly. At today’s price of gold an ounce, I still think I got a good deal. Something to add to my retirement.

Are you referring to the 2006 Gold Proof Buffalo/? I ask because I bought 5 of them and only paid $800 per coin, from the mint. Did you buy one graded PR70? I wanted to buy a sheet of the uncirculated buffaloes (I think there was 15 or 20 coins to the sheet) but decided to wait and see if the price of gold would come down. It never did and the sheets sold out and I’ve been kicking myself ever since! Those Buffalo’s are still my favorite coins.

When the proof gold Buffalo coin came out, I bought one for $999. What a bargain by today’s prices.

With Nickel hitting $100,000/ton today, I wonder if the mint even wants to make more. Certainly they will have to raise the price for the set.I can’t wait to see their pricing for the gold coins with gold at $2058/oz. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I may have gotten a bargain when I bought the 4 coin Gold Proof Set last year for only $5050!

The Proof Quarter set sold out in 10 min. Hopefully this was only the first batch and more will be made.
