In reply to Rich. Yes Sir Kaiser, I was surprised the Mint ended the sales at 11:59pm ET last night, two day earlier than traditionally done. With regards to the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum coins, the $5 Uncirculated Gold coin was no longer available about 2 weeks ago, the $1 Uncirculated Silver coin went unavailable about 1 week ago, and the $1 Proof Silver coin went unavailable several days ago. Only the $5 Proof Gold coin was left available to order up until the final hour last night (not considering the half-dollar clad coins). How/why they sold out so fast the last couple of weeks is because they were more or less "minted to order" in smaller amounts well under their stated mintage/product limits. The sales of these coins were very low from the onset, and stayed extremely low during the year. A similar pattern occurred in 2017 with the Boys Town Centennial Commemorative coins. Thus, since these commemorative coins are basically minted to meet demand, and with demand very low, the end result was extremely low final mintages (i.e., the lowest mintages of the entire Modern Gold and Silver Commemorative coin series [1984 to Date]).

The sales figure reported for either last week or this week for the 2021 National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum Commemorative 2021-W Uncirculated $5 Gold Coin may be in error. Last week’s reported sales gain of +157 and this week’s reported sales loss of -111 does not make sense. Questioning of this potential reporting error could be addressed by the US Mint Sales Counter (Headquarters) and/or the CoinNews Editor.

That’s a lot of 2021-S Proof Silver Eagles (Type 2) to put back in inventory (8922).
Must be a lot of third-party sellers gave up on the product and are taking advantage of any special return privileges they may have received.

All speculation, of course.
