The art does not exist except in the imagination of the artist. Garau says the sculpture may be displayed in any light since it’s not there. The buyer gets a stamped certificate in exchange for payment of $18,000, assuming they can’t just imagine they paid.

Thank you for your reply. I was thinking about possible criminal law violations, in part, Mail Fraud and Wire Fraud (see Title 18 U.S.C. 1341 and 1343). If investigated by IG and deemed appropriate then referral, to the DOJ for possible prosecution might be warranted. IMHO some form of accountability is needed and long overdue. But as the old saying goes: “it is slim to none and slim left town.”

Sir Kaiser, your last point mentioned above is most important. All collector precious metal coins come with a Certificate of Authenticity from the US Mint and all investor bullion coins are coins whose weight, content and purity are guaranteed by the United States government.

domenic, the best example of an instant “manufactured” rarity produced by the US Mint was the 2019-S $1 SAE Enhanced Reverse Proof. Knowing full well that the most valuable and rarest Silver American Eagle Proof is the 1995-W $1 SAE Proof coin with a mintage of only 30,125, the Mint purposely set the mintage limit for the 2019-S $1 SAE Enhanced Reverse Proof coin at 30,000 in an attempt to sensationalize it as the lowest mintage SAE (Proof) dollar of all time. Well this tactic worked, and the “little guy “collector”” could not even come close to successfully ordering it online when it was originally put on sale Nov. 14, 2019, at $65.95 each. Instead you had to purchase it for around $1,500 (ungraded or graded PR-69) from the “Big Boys” the next day/week if you still wanted it. And the 2020-W End of World War II 75th Anniversary American Eagle Gold Proof Coin with symbolic V75 Privy mark and a flaunting mintage of 1945… well I think you get my drift.
