I have tried to purchase coins through the US Mint numerous times over the internet (probably 30) in the past 3 years and have never been successful. I have only been successful when the release item was over $300.00.
Let’s face it. Unless you are one of the big dogs with ways to fool the bot screening process, or if by a miracles’ chance the system doesn’t crash during check-out, the average Joe is never going to get a coin period!

Received mine yesterday. Looks like it's a PF68, maybe. The box it came in wasn't impressive but then again, I don't buy them for the boxes. I may have it slabbed at some point. My W is still in Backlog. Only sorry I missed the 1986 reverse W. Well, I believe they sold out in 3 minutes.

Kaiser ---
I somehow missed the gold Mercury Dime that was issued a few years ago. But I put in a "remind me" if it ever came available and kept my fingers crossed. I did so because when I called the Mint, the rep told me that for all sorts of reasons the number sold on Day 1 almost always declines.

For instance, a bad credit card/number causes your accepted order to immediately be rejected but doesn't necessarily show up on their records until much later. "Buyer's remorse" is another big reason (you know, I just had second thoughts about it, the expense, the time availability, and on and on.)

So I was "lucky" enough to finally get one of those gold Mercuries months after original issue date. And I'm sure the reason I got it was that it was a sloppy strike, nowhere near the quality of any other coin I've ever bought from the Mint. It was probably one that had been returned to the Mint for that reason, or that someone was just high grading what they were keeping. I was even thinking about returning it but then figured it was better than nothing ... but not much.

My bet is that if the Mint has a group of 10 analysts doing the accounting, they'll get at least 11 results. The Mint probably recruits them from those that can't make change at your local fast food joint.

Hi Kaiser
Had a enrollment for the annual uncirculated set - the mint is only allowing a maximum of 20 per enrollment… last year it was 99
, I’m wondering if you have any idea of the reason

Kaiser,

C'mon Man! You have to own some bullion coins. I try to buy a tube of the ASE's each year. I'm holding a tube of the 2021 Type 2 ASE's in my hand right now. I don't ever open them because I like them to remain BU, without my DNA all over them (epidermal oils 'sebum', in case there are some perverts in here!) Some of my tubes are from the 90's and they have appreciated nicely over the years. Wish I could've paid the same amount for the 2021's as I did for the 90's tubes! No such luck.

Kaiser,

That's my outlook on ordering any 'limited edition, sold ou..' oh sorry, (I seem to be conditioned to think of coins in that light for some strange reason), product from the Mint. My fingers will be banging away like Ron Jeremy in one of his scenes on a movie set! Personally I get myself into an apathetic state and click away until I get either a confirmation or the dreaded 'No Longer Available' announcement. These coins are certainly desirable and should increase in value over time, but to me, are still a 'want' not a 'need.'

By the way, did you get any of the O or CC Morgans? They are being offered on eBay for close to $400 -$500! It's going to be fun watching the 'Coin God' and others pricing these beauties this Fall.
