Sir Kaiser, I just read your outstanding comment(s) recently posted regarding the Mint’s announced statement on Bulk Purchasers. You hit that one out of the ballpark! Many thanks for your insightful remarks revealing the dupery of the Mint these days.

Sirs Kaiser Wilhelm and ChrisTerp, if I may comment on the theme of the US Mint’s recent attempt to create great publicity for themselves through the artificial manufacturing of modern coin rarities, it is not so much a product of these COVID-times as it is a reflection of the US Mint Director’s ego and intent. Case in point, the cute mintage limit of 1945 for the 2020-W $50 GAE Proof V75 privy mark World War II 75th Anniversary coin, a truly vain stab to make the rarest key-date Gold American Eagle of the series. But the most blatant example was the obvious mintage limit of 30,000 for the 2019-S $1 SAE Enhanced Reverse Proof coin, purposely intended to undercut the most valuable/highest priced and most sought after American Eagle coin of all, the 1995-W $1 SAE Proof coin with a final mintage of 30,125, which was included in the 1995-W 10th Anniversary American Eagle Proof Five Coin Set. At the time in 1995, no one really knew the full appreciation of that coin set, but especially the 1995-W $1 SAE Proof, which slowly earned it’s key date status of the King of All American Eagle precious metal coins. Composed of silver, it is still worth more than any gold, platinum or palladium American Eagle to date.

I’ve actually made a major mistake Your Imperial Majesty in my statement about coins becoming valuable two hours after sale! With months notice of low mintage and only a single purchase US Mint has decided well in advance to which coin(s)/medal(s) are sought after collector pieces, essentially Spanish Doubloons (possibly forerunner of today’s cryptocurrency since many ended at bottom of ocean/seas from our Great Briatain/USA forefathers: privateer captains?).

Be that as it may, now US Mint made available ten, three, two coins for purchase of such rarities to make it even more scarce for citizens to purchase. That tactic allowed folks who were able to login quickly and secure product the advantage to capture more product, and the market on the low mintage by procuring more sought after coins.

Again, who is representing average Joe collector at the US Mint?

Collector coins become valuable because of scarcity and how pristine they are; however, coins should not become valuable two hours after they are sold out. It is not the job of the US Mint to designate which coins are to become collectible in two hours but provide for the demand of what the public (citizens and taxpayers) want. The whole of the US was mobilized in WWII and to have only 75,000 WWII silver coins and 1,945 gold coins was ridiculous. I will give a little leeway on Mayflower mintage as interest has wained because of current environment of revisionist history.

It’s like US Mint is now a crypto coin operator with their low mintages of certain coins and medals to game the market. It’s not the mission of US Mint or USG to designate was should be valuable or not, market makes that decision not for a few fellas and gals at the US Mint. Makes me wonder who is representing everyday Joe on US Mint Advisory Panel?

What’s more irritating is the price increases of precious metal coins and all medals by US Mint. Drastic price increases based on what US Mint competitors (Royal Mint, Monaise de Paris, etc.) charge, but these competitors produce more varieties of coins & medals per annum, plus produce lower volume than US Mint does meriting higher their prices.
