More like Heads they win….Tails…….they win.

I had ordered a box from them come out and after a couple months I decided to take the money back. They were a bit difficult to get in touch with but I really had to a bad feeling about it. Thankfully they were able to make it right by sending the money back but by that time the box has already increased in price by $3,000

I was able to get both coins on 5/24. I didn’t know at the time of ordering that they may be an annual release. I just lost my enthusiasm for any new releases.

I’m a new collector and my opinion is perhaps different from that of most here, and would be interested in your thoughts. My interest in collecting has grown partially from television and partially from the ruckus caused by high demand for certain US Mint issues. So while frustrating, my own experience is perhaps indicative that the commotion caused by excess demand may help bring in a new generation of collectors.

I also understand why the Mint is motivated to encourage bulk buyers – correct me if I’m wrong here but that probably allows the Mint more certainty of demand and at higher prices than to us retail buyers.

But that said, there must be a better way of tiering supply, and the seemingly obvious hole in here is the 10 – 25 purchase limit at the lower price, that doesn’t seem to serve either purpose – and seems tailor made for buying groups.

It would make more sense to me if the Mint were to actually grant a LARGER allocation to authorized buyers of say 10-50% of an issue, depending on expected demand – but those dealers must pay higher premiums than just 5%. And then for everyone else, a purchase limit of 1-3 would make sense (at least for a few days). That combination would seem to satisfy all objectives – ensuring the issues sell out, maximizing yield to the Mint, and helping collectors.

One other item that might be helpful is to grant perennial purchasers an earlier window to buy. My budget and interest are limited to the most compelling g issues, but the Mint should be encouraging its better customers by giving them a leg up on me, so to speak.

Sir Kaiser Wilhelm, I have some information to share regarding the 2021 Silver American Eagle enrollments. Back in mid-February the US Mint enrollments for the American Eagle coins listed the American Eagle Silver One Ounce Proof Coin Enrollment West Point (W) as Sold Out TBD, the American Eagle Silver One Ounce Proof Coin Enrollment San Francisco (S) was TBD and the American Eagle Silver One Ounce Uncirculated Coin Enrollment West Point (W) was TBD. On February 23rd I placed enrollment orders for the AES Proof S mint and the AES Uncirculated W mint. Then in April I called the mint customer service to ask if the AES Proof W mint still showing sold out was referring to the Type 1 which was released on February 11th (and sold out) or to the upcoming Type 2 AES Proof (W). The representative could not answer my question(s) and seemed quite confused. She then went on to tell me that the Mint was not even going to make the 2021 Type 2 AES Proof W & S and Uncirculated W coins available through the enrollment ordering this year because of the Type 1 and 2 change over and limited number of coins being minted. When I questioned that policy change (especially since the mint had not released an official statement to that affect), she said that the mint may update or change that decision later on as they were still studying the situation. Finally in May I noticed that the 2021 AES Proof W mint was listed as TBD and no longer stating “sold out.” So on May 4th I successfully placed an enrollment order for two of the coins. Then about 2 weeks ago I noticed that the AES Proof (W) was listed as Currently Unavailable, and then about a week ago the AES Proof (S) and AES Uncirculated (W) were also listed as Currently Unavailable. The enrollment product ordering window only lasted about 2 weeks for the the 2021 AES Type 2 Proof (W mint). Super crazy…
