Coin collectors may choose from 25-coin rolls and 100-coin bags filled with uncirculated Maryland dollars from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. They are issued as part of the U.S. Mint’s American Innovation™ $1 Coin Program and appear as the third of four Innovation $1 designs for 2020.

The Hubble Space Telescope was developed by NASA and launched into space on April 24, 1990. Designed as one of the largest, but most versatile space telescopes, it takes its name from American astronomer Edwin P. Hubble. Two sites located in the state of Maryland are responsible for management of the telescope including NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and the Space Telescope Science Institute.

Designs for Maryland American Innovation Dollar

The reverse or tails side of the new dollar depicts the telescope orbiting the earth surrounded by a field of stars. The image was created by U.S. Mint artist Joseph Menna who also sculpted it. Inscriptions circling the design include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "THE HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE," and "MARYLAND."

It was released in October as part of the four-coin 2020 American Innovation Dollar Proof Set. The dollars the U.S. Mint released today within rolls and bags carry the same design but have an uncirculated finish.

All coins in the Innovation $1 series bear the same obverse (heads side) likeness of the Statue of Liberty. The obverse also includes the inscriptions of "$1" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." Justin Kunz designed the rendition of the Statue of Liberty. It was sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.

2020 Innovation dollars also bear a small privy mark of a stylized gear on their obverse. Note, this privy mark is different from the one used for 2019-dated dollars.

Edge inscriptions found on every $1 coin read 2020, a mint mark, and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."

Price and Ordering

Each 25-coin roll may be purchased for $34.50 with the 100-coin bags priced $117.50 each. They may be ordered from the U.S. Mint’s online store for American Innovation products.

Thank you DLU. ¢.38 or ¢.175 mark up per coin. OMG profits; Burn, destroy, run! lol. I thank you. I did buy doubles, incase I want to break a bag or roll open just for fun!

Jake

Remember you are not buying coins face value from the bank. I wonder what Grandpa said buying 10th anniversary sets for a cool overpriced $1000 from the Mint.

Stewart

Not a single one will ever be seen in circulation…..ever. Stop this madness, or just stop printing the paper note.

Jake

I have bought and profited enough on digital currency to know it is nothing more than a gamble. The paper note is trusted, albeit paper. I can assure you some coins have found their way into circulation, just for fun.

Chas. Barber

I buy them to spend & watch the cashier feak out & call the p0p0

Jake

Now that’s funny. I usually see the cashier buy the coin at face value and save it. If their smart. If anything they call the manager and the manager buys it at face value and saves it. Lol

Big T

These are amazing coins and MUST HAVE rolls. Don’t break them or spend them, save them forever and ever and ever. Don’t even look at them you will ruin it. Just buy them and stash somewhere in your house or parents basement where no one can find them.

Big T

I can’t wait to buy another ASE with the same reverse since 1986. Never mind we were all told that would be the 2020 S ASE but now we gotta buy another “last of the last” reverse ASE issues.
Well, color me pink because I am buying them all – ha aha ahahaha!!

Jake

Hey Mr. pink I like your thinking! TBH I did break bag and rolls open just for fun. Fyi they are worth a 1$ That’s why I buy doubles to keep a spare =)
