In reply to Edward Ermey. They are attempting to increase interest in the hobby by low mintage coins that people compete for. Obviously, the commemoratives authorized by Congress don't do it, with their high mintages and rare sellouts.

I would like to know how the Mint’s computer system process orders when so many are attempting to obtain one of a limited number. how does it move orders from ‘in your bag’ to ‘checkout’ to ‘order confirmation’? To me this is the crux of the issue.
BTW, I was able to secure the silver proof late in the process.

In reply to DOMENIC. That makes zero sense. The mint would have obviously made more money with higher mintage, so it is not so "THEY make money". It is actually done so that YOU can buy a low mintage coin. Will everyone get one? No they won't. But that is the unfortunate side of a low mintage coin in high demand. I was only able to get the silver one, despite I tried hard for the gold one. The EOWWII gold coin I did manage to secure but it was a big hassle. So regrets if you got 'left out' but I hope you at least tried for it. Hopefully they continue with some low mintage offers in the future and you can manage to get one. Then it will be worth it, correct?

My take….They WANT the sellout. usually they say stuff like 400,000 across all products….and never get near that number. Breast cancer awareness and Suffragette coins being perfect examples. Lower mintage’s mean more demand and people see them as investments…. mostly….and collectors …like me…usually get left out. Its a great way tp insure THEY make money.
