2020-W 24-Karat Gold Coin and 2020-P Silver Medal for End of WWII

208

Debuting today from the United States Mint are two new collectibles commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of the second world war. Available beginning at Noon ET are the End of World War II 75th Anniversary 24-Karat Gold Coin and Silver Medal.

US Mint End of World War II 75th Anniversary 24-Karat Gold Coin
U.S. Mint images of a 2020-W Proof $25 End of World War II 75th Anniversary 24-Karat Gold Coin. The West Point Mint-struck piece is in 1/2-ounce of .9999 fine gold.

These two pieces, which are struck in a collector proof finish, follow the End of World War II American Eagle Coins which launched Nov. 5. Both were hot ticket items selling out quickly, causing significant issues for most while ordering.

The latest anniversary products share designs and they have limited mintages — 7,500 for the 1/2-ounce $25 gold coins and 20,000 for the 1-ounce silver medal. As indicated in its name, the proof gold coin is struck from 24-karat. The proof medal is composed of 99.9% pure silver.

"The United States Mint is honored to salute the ‘greatest generation’ that rose to the occasion with the End of World War II 75th Anniversary Coin and Medals Program," the U.S. Mint describes. "The compelling collection includes magnificent representations of the values and ideals our service men and women fought to protect. Join us in celebration of the bravery, courage, and sacrifice of Americans who stood together to preserve our way of life."

$25 Gold Coin and Silver Medal Designs

Designs for the End of World War II 75th Anniversary Gold Coin and Silver Medal bear a common obverse (heads side) depicting an eagle in flight grasping an olive branch, symbolizing peace, in its right talon. This image was inspired by the 1945 version of the Great Seal of the United States.

Inscriptions read "LIBERTY," "1945" and "WORLD WAR II." U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) artist Ronald Sanders created this design with Mint Medallic Artist Phebe Hemphill executing its sculpting. The artists’ initials also appear, as does a "W" mint mark on the gold coin representing its production at the West Point Mint. The silver medal was struck at the Philadelphia Mint but it carries no mint mark, which is typical for medals.

US Mint End of World War II 75th Anniversary Silver Medal

Created by Mint AIP artist Donna Weaver and sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Renata Gordon, the reverses (tails side) share a design that echoes the sun element on the obverse of the 1945 World War II Victory Medal. Rays from the sun shine on olive branches.

Reverse inscriptions for the gold coin read: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "75th ANNIVERSARY," "2020," "AU 24K," "1/2 OZ." and "$25." The silver medal’s reverse has "75th ANNIVERSARY." Both pieces also show artists’ initials.

Not wasting my time. Going to buy the 2021 gold proof sovereign came out today from the royal mint. No issues go figure also low mintage 7995. Too much hype on us coins and to make quick profits. Not a hobby anymore.

Seth Riesling

Gold is down $99 per ounce this morning & silver is down about $1.40 per ounce! Amazing drop!!

I got lucky, maybe. Got an order acknowledgement from the mint for the coin. I was able to get it in my bag at 11::02 CST. I got lock out but got back in quickly. Good hunting to all.

James Dooley

The mint has already screwed this up this morning. I have one clicked for payment and it disappears. The Mint can’t handle the 21st century. Probably never will

Coin-donkey

The real trick here is checking out successfully. In several instances I have had the coin in the cart, only to run into checkout issues, usually getting the oops message (with Refresh button), then getting timeouts. Admittedly screwed up, but I guess that is what makes it a prize when you get one. Darn clever, the mint marketers.

Terrence Walsh

Its not clever, its what happen 20 years ago at ticketron which was the only way to buy concert tickets at the time in NY, it turned out that the web site handling it was corrupt and sold all box seats to scalpers for kick backs. You can tell because the mint should have a cue and tell you your place on the cue the instant you log in. In response i have ended subscriptions with mint and will never buy these coins (and i am a collector). hopeful other collectors do the same and there’s your resale(gone). Allowed to… Read more »

vadim

Got a gold one, but boy this website has issues. I’m noticing a technic for next time.

Coin-donkey

Congrats! Yeah, I had the gold in the cart, only to find I was unable to check out. Eventually the take it out of your cart if you’re unable to pay for it before it sells out. So having it in the cart is not securing it.

NICHOLAS J CALIFANO

Same errors as last week. oops something went wrong.
after redoing payment 3 times. landed up with a blank white screen at 12:05….. while trying to get back in received email confirmation at 12:07

Coin-donkey

Same happened to me last week, I ended up with the silver eagle by sheer luck. Their checkout experience is totally broken, but some orders get through with you knowing it. SO check your mail if you had checkout problems after submitting confirmation.

Terrence Walsh

Its not an error, this is the same thing that ticketron (at the time the only way to get concert tickets) did 20 years ago, when only the scalpers got box seats. You would be lucky to get nose bleed seats the next day. Because once your in you should have it not get locked out every time you try to purchase, also it should have a cue and tell you where you are in wait line. Not whats going on will the mints web site is the same corrupt crap that ticketron did years ago. My answers is to… Read more »

Well, I got a gold one in the basket but…Oooops something went wrong. Got back into my account, filled out the security code, hit confirm and oops something went wrong. 3 more times then… We’re sorry, but this item is no longer available. The mint site sucks. Get some servers folks!!!

kevinh

NWRobert, Oh boy are you right about that! The USM system is totally flawed and favors people that aren’t even collectors trying to buy a coin for themselves. If after these last 3 fiascos 2019 ERPSE, 2020 75th anniversary AGE and ASE, and now this the USM doesn’t care to improve the system I don’t care to buy from them any longer. They are totally ruining the hobby for collectors while claiming to want to attract new young collectors. That will never happen under their current leadership and direction.

Coin-donkey

They should improve the checkout experience. If you get it in your cart, you should be able to call that the win. It’s false hope that you have to clear several luck-related hurdles only to get rejected with a page error at the end.

Brian.W

I was able to get a silver. Same trouble as with the silver eagle last Thursday but I was able to complete the sale in around 15 minutes compared with over an hour last week.

jwp

There are 7 pages of listings on EBAY. Going for $!80.00 and up! It did not take long for the sellers!!

paul reed

Think trump has ordered the mint to favor businesses!!

Coin-donkey

You’re gonna miss having Trump as a foil, soon enough.

Gary Colon

Can’t these posts stick to the hobby?

Edward Ermey

I think Trump should FIRE the Mint Director.

Coin-donkey

The Mint Director is a marketing genius, and good for the mint’s sales. Look at how all the interest in the products keeps growing.

Edward Ermey

Look at how many private customers that are leaving.
That does not seem genius, alienating the private customers.

Peter L. Gordon

Completely messed up today. Four times I got to the final check out and the message that my order was processing. The processing message told me not to refresh or hit the back button while my order was processing, and then I get another oops message. Then a 105 error, then an oops, 65 refreshes later back to my inbox, and another processing your order message, then back to 105, and now after 30 minutes, unavailable. This is absolutely ludicrous.

Donald Aldrich

I have had enough. Had it in the cart @12:01. It never let me get to payment. This has got to end. The dealers should only be able to buy one like the rest of us. I will NEVER pay the huge premiums that these crooks are trying to get. If it is in the cart it should count as a purchase which you should be able to complete. Not this ponzi scheme,!!

kevinh

Yes Donald, like with any REPUTABLE dealer if it is in our cart we should an amount of time to complete the purchase and not have an unfair system take it away.

Edward Ermey

Agreed, but don’t count on the mint actually being fair or reputable.

Coin-donkey

They should improve the checkout experience. If you get it in your cart, you should be able to call that the win. It’s false hope that you have to clear several luck-related hurdles only to get rejected with a page error at the end.

jwp

I had a reminder sent to me for the ASE last week and the silver medal today. I used the email to access the mint and got the oops – refresh msg just 2 – 3 times. I got lucky and got a coin for both issues. This way seem to bypass the garbage I was seeing last week as the mint had sent the email and access link, and quickly recognized my account. Maybe i just got lucky and email reminder had nothing to do with it.

Brian.W

Interesting there are pages and pages listing this medal for anywhere from $200 to as much as $500 but the medal is still not sold out and you can still get it for $75

Big T

It is sold out now

Jackson

I made a purchase on the site a few days ago (so the mint should recognize my IP address and that I am not a bot). Go in today. Get a coin in the basket and then get locked out. I have been refreshing but was locked out for 30 minutes because it thinks I’m a fraudulent buyer? Didn’t even get a chance at a captcha. Coins are all gone now it shows. I heard the same thing happened last week to people trying to buy (locked out) . I guess it’s just the luck of the draw.

Coin-donkey

Don’t you love how they snatch it back out of your cart, because you were unable to check out? That’s just wrong.

Audrey

Well it was important for all of the flippers to get theirs so they can list them on eBay for five grand. The little collector guy gets shut out once again

Edward Ermey

I had the same problem during last weeks FIASCO. I figured it would be the same today, so I boycotted the product as another fabricated rarity. Looks like they don’t plan on putting up the feedback pop up anytime soon…

Sherril

THe US MInt is a worthless unfair orginazation.I had to refresh and reenter my credit card 20 times until it was sold out.As they say the rich get richer and the poor get poorer! It is a unwinning battle so I don’t know why I wasted that 20 minutes of my life trying.

kevinh

Yes after last weeks fiasco for the AGE and ASE I thought this week might be better. WRONG. I multiple times had to start over and re enter information, continually getting error messages. I’ve finally had it with the USM. They have had multiple problems with this and they don’t care to improve the process. Why should I care to do business with them. The USM can go screw off!

Michael kerins

The best way is to use PayPal. You won’t have to waste time entering credit card info, fast click PayPal and then confirm.

Coin-donkey

and then the big hurdle is not crashing after Submit is clicked.

Chas. Barber

The Mint website has been a cluster phuck for a LONG time, even after last week if the cared they would try to fix, know what it’s all $$ to them be it collectors or Mezak & his Minions…..I did not even try today as the price & mintages are way too high tomake $ in aftermarket. IF you like these items WAIT & be patient, I can smell the returns with a $100 drop in AU today….

Bob Silver

Never tried PayPal at US Mint. Do you have to log in to PayPal after hitting the button? I avoided that option for that assumed reason of taking too long. I read last time that many people had better success by checking out as a Guest.

Dirk G

I was able to get a gold one. It looks like it’s still available, there’s still an add to bag button.

Dirk G

nvm, it show unavailable now.

Coin-donkey

Wow! Gold.

Sherril

I am sure you are a rich guy with fast internet which isn’t available to me because I am a poor guy making $35,000 a year!!!!!!!!!!!!You will sell it for big bucks while I work 40 hours a week and have trouble feeding my family.

kevinh

I assume the best about Dirk G. He sounds like he was lucky enough to get one for himself. It’s the USM and the process that is flawed. Until we stop buying from them and let the big $ buyers hang with their flips it only encourages the system to remain f’ed up.

Dirk G

Thanks Kevinh. I tried to get a gold one last week and did not make it. FWIW, I rent a friends guest house and my wifi runs off of a wifi extender to the main house so it’s far from fast. I got lucky.

Big T

well if you are having trouble feeding your family then I don’t recommend buying the coin… just saying

Coin-donkey

Endeavor to work harder, so you can have enough to get in on the gold coins! It’s a lot of fun, even when you can’t get them.

Bob Silver

Well, the good news is you can’t eat gold, at least that’s what I read all the time about people who stack gold and silver for emergency use.

Mintisoutdated

Man what a crappy website!! Worst then the last one. Had the coins in my cart and all the way to payment and it freezes over and over

Sherril

The mint doesn’t care about us people who only make $40,000 a year and don’t have access to the fast internet that the rich guys have!

dlbrva

I got a silver on mobile today and last week

RonnieBGood

Looks like you got a $5 k raise from your last post?

Sherril Matney

I average between $35,000 and $40,000 per year as an essential pharmacy employee and you are a jerk for making that comment about someone’s pay.

Sean

Why would you state how much you make. This has nothing to do with how much you make. Other have won on mobile and probably slower speed then you have. So what you make is irrelevant.

sam tweedy

No future value in Medals one ugly pissed off eagle poor design, don’t waste your money on these!!!!

BKk

I agree! The coin’s design is below expectations from what is a desirible collectable.

Big T

Hi Sam, I actually like the design – been looking to get this coin for several months since I saw it. What do you not like about it?

Coin-donkey

Yeah, it’s surprising to see all the hype about medals. Who knew?

Chas. Barber

The medal has too much unused fields……$75 for an Z of AG…..only 3x spot for a MEDAL.. If you like it buy it, if you like it WAIT & buy when the price drops in aftermarket & IT WILL along with the AU Babs Bush @ mintage <2K is a btter play & she’s a handsome woman…….

Jerry

I am completely disappointed with this bad US Mint and all the resellers who flood the inquiries with automated buying machines or China workers to make maximum profit. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Lost time. I will sell my entire collection because what happens here has nothing to do with collecting anymore.

Coin-donkey

Sour grapes? Just remember that if these were easy to obtain, they wouldn’t carry such a premium. Buying from the mint is no longer a coin collector’s secret. They do need to improve the checkout experience, but there will always be a scramble for sought after coins. Not a reason to stop collecting.

Chas. Barber

I stopped buying new issues after the Rev ASE BS, I tried for the V75 major cluster F. Sour Grapes, no I want a chance, the mint website is know to favor close servers (East coast) professional & their minions…..there is no excuse for the mint’s site being a POS for YEARS now….why fix it they all sell out…..

Big T

Exactly!

Andy

Awesome victory! Anti bot software again was a huge success , unfortunate there were some customers who got locked out ,, but still an overall success… consumer again beats the dealer

kevinh

Really? What world do you live in?

Sherril Matney

What are you talking about?I had in cart in 30 seconds but couldn’t place order for the 25 oops and then it was gone.Get real

Coin-donkey

That’s a problem w checkout, again due to traffic. I had a coin in cart only to have it snatched out when I was unable to pay in 20 minutes of trying.

Coin-donkey

I saw the checking software pop up before I could log on to the mint. They did do something after last week, probably anti bot software or IP checker.

Chas. Barber

Andy, say Hello to Ryder @ your coffee break…………

Andy

Don’t ride the Ryder , that’s like hassling the hoff. Look I got screwed just as bad as everyone else during the 2019 Erp ase s. Then again during both BS quick sales. I went in last week with low expectations and prevailed within minutes as my coworker and fellow collector was going to destroy the computer . I was on , I. And out by 12:00:53sec. Never seen that ever . The anti bot ware is flawed but working . Even if I where crapped on again I am happy something is in place . Shield wall in full… Read more »

WTF

Andy
Gary Stein

I had a gold one in the bag at 11:01. After 8 requests for address information, followed by errors which I had to refresh and 4 payment requests, followed by errors which I had to refresh.

I get item not available. (BS!)

Rather then quit, I just kept refreshing.

Finally coin appeared back in my bag. Again going through the payment process multible times, finally got to the ‘Order” buttton. Which also errored out multiple times. Then finally got a ordered email from the mint.

Ha after 35 miniutes!

Bob Silver

I went through the same process as you, except three times checking out and kept refreshing every 30 seconds or so. I too, had fortunate success after 38 minutes.

ChrisH

Had both the 20XG and the 20XH in the bag at 12:00pm. But could never get through the payment process before it said both were unavailable. This is complete crap.

Marc

I added the gold coin at 12:00 eastern, then spent 42 minutes reentering shipping and payment info., then the cart said the product is no longer available! How is that possible, I had it in my cart at 12! I am so annoyed.

kevinh

Totally agree, same thing happened to me. The USM site and process is a joke.

Joe Who

I don’t think these coins will be worth much over time. They are just hype pieces or flip pieces. Only the 1945 issue is really low issue, but only thing it has going is a mint mark. The buying experience was very poor. Looks like you had to refresh slowly, get in at exactly noon, and not click alot or you were blocked out. These will be the beenie babies of coin collecting.

kevinh

For me it isn’t about what it will be worth over time, 10x loss or 10x gain. I wanted one of either the gold or silver for what they represent and in memory of my dad.

Uncle Sams Nephew

You honor his memory in the true spirit of this medal and what it symbolizes. Thanks for the reminder that it’s made 75 years later after the war, and the remaining members of the greatest generation are able to be saluted in coin.

Complaining about a crappy purchase experience just doesn’t measure up to the message of this medal.

Andy

Well said . Well played . USA !

Chas. Barber

Joe who is right it should read, be patient grasshopper the coins will flow back to you over tyme

Andy

Everybody knows this should have been a silver dollar plus medal set! Everybody wanted the silver medal to go with the silver eagle. It just makes sense and they knew damn well what they were doing by separating this because people are going to want a complete silver 1945 set . With only 20k , 55k go incomplete . I have a little bit of an OCD about things like this And I’m sure there are others out there also. My coworker got so pissed off at his computer but he said he wants to do this because of the… Read more »

I’m, done with the mint, I don’t know why they can’t learn from their own stupid a$$ mistakes. I had one in my bag 4 times and got screwed checking out. Was lucky enough to get a V75 Eagle last week, but got screwed this week. It will continue to happen, never going to waste my time again. It’s like concert tickets, they all of a sudden evaporate but secondary sites have plenty for 5 to 6 times face value. The system is broken. It has nothing to do with how rich or how fast your internet is. I’m well… Read more »

kevinh

YES!

ChrisH

Amen, their quality has gone down as well. I too was able to just barely get the V75 Eagle last week but like you I got hosed this week. Never again!

Bob Silver

Would you stop buying if you got everything you wanted Monday? That’s what I thought 🙂

Todd

Got the silver coin and medal. Looks like the website get drowned with clicks and more clicks in very short period of time.

Butch

Able to get a silver took 40 refresh clicks made it to confirm 10 times and got knocked off but at least I got the silver.

domenic

Not worth my effort. I collect coins not medals. Has no face value. Value just in silver and mintage…..i pass.

Brandon

I wanted one in remembrance of my grandfather that fought in every campaign and came home highly decorated. I looked up to him until the day he passed. I don’t collect medals, but this one was going to be special. Never again though, never ever again will I let those hacks control my day. They will never upgrade their system, so if you don’t like it, stop buying from them is what I always say. There are other governments that blow the mint’s crappy designs out of the water. The new reverse of the eagle? Not congruent with the obverse… Read more »

Dirk G

Just curious. I’ve never bought a limited mintage coin like this before and I’ve never had one graded. Is it best to go ahead and send it off to get graded or does it matter. I’m not planning on selling it. Does having it with the original mint packaging matter?

kevinh

Dirk G To me if you are not planning on selling it, it is better in the original mint packaging. I got one of the gold mercury dimes a few years ago and have kept it original. It will get passed on that way.

Charlie

I live in an old farm house. I dont have a controled atmosphere to store my coins. I have found for less than $1 a coin i can put the coin in a kointain capsule, then place that in a BCW slab, use a DYMO label maker to make info labels for inside the slab and also make a label i can cut into 3 strips to put around the outside ofthe slab. It looks super and I dont have any of my coins turn like silver will if I leave it in the OGP. I do half dollars and… Read more »

Brian.W

There are now more than 1200 of these up for sale on ebay. Geez!

Sherril

there was only 1900 for sale

Big T

i was able to get both coins but it was tough. I don’t think it is fair to blame the mint – on one hand collectors do like pieces with low mintage (in 2016 everyone complained that the mintage of the gold anniversary coins at 125k was TOO high – you can find that on THIS site in the comments), but on the other hand it makes it harder to get. I just kept refreshing and slowly but surely – had to start over several times – it paid off. Last week could only get the silver, gold sold out… Read more »

Brandon

I entered my credit card info 4 times when it was in my cart, and nothing. I can definitely blame the mint without a doubt. They are the host for the website that won’t let you buy anything. Yes, limited mintage number draw collectors in. The know, it happened last week and happened again today, that the traffic on the website is going to be robust, yet they do nothing to address it. They are to blame, and them alone. Like I said, much like concert tickets that sell out in 30 seconds but 20 pages of them are up… Read more »

Big T

I had the same problem, entered it in many times. But that is because we have reached the limit of the technology and not because of the mint. What should they have done differently?
I used to buy miss out on concert tickets all the time when the demand was higher than the supply – it happens but just blaming the mint over this is not common sense. Any modern website that is bombarded with traffic will have issues.

Chas. Barber

See AMAZON & TARGET on black Friday more traffic they SELL the stuff & don’t crash. A rat poops in the mint & they raise prices & website crashes. I don’t care today’s offerings will go down in value, almost guaranteed AY 7,5oo mintage the highest for a gold commem since/???? Baseball….?

Sean

About 4 years ago Amazon crashed on Black Friday and items in carts were lost.

kevinh

Yeah once in 4 years? not twice in a less than a week.

Brian.W

Lottery based on having an account with the mint. Since anyone can create an account, no one is denied but you only get one chance to get the coin. 1 entry per valid account. Physical address, email addresses, name can all be used to eliminate someone trying to create multiple accounts. The way this is done now it’s no different than trying to get a $100 TV on black Friday at best buy,

Brandon

I’ve had an account for years and even participated in enrollment programs. It’s just disappointing how powerless we are are. I was patient, and the first time I tried, I got to the check out page and clicked on the complete order button, then got the oops something went wrong message. I don’t know what else to say other than I’m done and extremely disappointed. They only produce 1 thing here and there that is actually worth taking a look at.

kevinh

I agree. Something similar to the GSA Morgan dollar sale. A lottery for the initial on sale and if anything is left they can put it on their totally flawed web site.

Chas. Barber

I think it is right & FAIR to blams the mint & it’s Chief Ryder, this has gone on for years, they idiotically released both V75 @ THE SAME F’IN TIME ETF, of course it was a major skrewing now Monday after the same BS. I don’t care I WAS a loyal mint buyer for decades, no more I was done after Enhance Rev ASE BS, I just tried for V75 wasted an hour. They had potential this SO make No Cent$

Dave

I was able to secure a gold coin. Although there were a few hiccups, it was much easier and quicker than last week. Does anyone want to buy it from me?

Chas. Barber

Spot + 20%? Sell now the aftermarket price will drop baaedon sale # & HISTORY

sam tweedy

Not a coin keep your useless “medal” maybe you can sell it to Rick Tomaska Mr. Ebay!!!! he will flip it for you!!!!

kevinh

As Dave stated gold coin. The gold of this issue is a coin not medal. I might be interested Dave.

Jim Jones

What are the resell values for both of these coins?

Brandon Keith

I have been trying the last two time for both walking liberty and ww2 coin and the website kicks out and then when you try and get it sold out this is not right for the people that was on the website at 12 and they just say sorry and then that’s it us mint is messing up so bad and the dont give a shit

Kevin

Looks like business as usual for the Mint. Just checking in after not collecting for over 5 years.

Coin-donkey

These are attractively designed medals, normally seen as a mint one-off that would be primarily attractive to collectors of such. It’s surprising to see the intense interest in medals now. Is it the hype around the two coins sold last week, which are more high profile, that carried over to these two medals today? That said, it seems like a marketing coup for the mint to be able to get so many people coming to their site, competing for their offerings and selling out in minutes. The approved coin dealers must be making bank.

kevinh

The gold version is a coin not a medal.

kevinh

I’m on ebay offering all the flippers looking for $3-500 $75 for the silver medal. I know I won’t get one, but I feel better making the point 🙂

Brandon

I like that idea Kevin!! I might do the same.

Andy

Haha I still offer low prices on the s 2019 erp . It’s funny for my amusement

Coin-donkey

Important note for folks who got to checkout and actually hit Submit, only to see an error, or not get a confirmation….

Check your email for mint order confirmation – you may have gotten lucky.

Bob Silver

That happened to me, three times, and about 30 minutes later I did get an email for Mint order and I got what I placed in The Bag.

C R Forbes

I had more troubles this time than last week. Today I could not get anything. I had the Gold in my cart and could not get my payment processed, issues again on their end. This is nonsense! Why bother when an item is in your card that should be your and you should be able to pay for what you have secured. What and how the US Mint operates is in my opinion wrong and is deceptive! This collector got his coin with a much smoother time then last week coin. Last week took 12 min today just under 2 min. I have never sold any of my coins. I had the refresh 1 time and and cart was slow then had blank confirmation screen but received text alert to receive shipping updates. I waited and got my email reply. Probably should have tried for gold. I believe there are ways that might increase your luck, wifi with lag compared to hardwire, your computer speed, your bandwidth, your server location and hot keys for CC. As for what… Read more »

Hello, I saw the hype about the two coins last week, and was wondering if there will also be hype about the coins sold today? I am new to this. Can someone please explain to me. What was so special and valuable about last weeks coins? What about todays? What determines the demand and value of these coins? Are there going to be other coins sold by the mint to look out for? What about the other coins on their list for this year? Thanks!

Charlie

Most of the people you see on this site are collectors. Like any hobby there are certain things you collect. Most everyone really like the eagle program the mint started in 1986. Gold, Silver, Platinum and now Palladium. Thesecoins they are complaining about dont carry a mintage that allows every collector to have one for their set. It leaves a hole. The mint did not make a proof silver eagle in 2009 they only made thebullion coins. It caused quite a stir because that was thefirst hole in the silver eagle set. Since 1995 the first anniversary set the mint… Read more »

Yeah I managed to buy the silver medal. I got the order confirmation. I tried to get the silver proof v75 coin but I went through all the error and you’ve been banned messages. I was patient and stayed calm and had all the information programmed so I could have the best chance. I agree for all, the mint needs to have higher sales volumes to allow for more buyers and less pressure. It’s also extremely frustrating for the site to not be able to handle the volume well. They need to improve their service for us. If you didn’t… Read more »

Numismatics or just plain coin collectors are going the way of extinction. The mint has found that to just mint a few thousand coins and create a lotto system works best for the few and dealers that flip for thousands upon thousands. Too bad….so many can’t participate. The hobby is changing into privileged “NEWRICHMISTISTS”

Mike

I am going to send the US mint a box of condoms and tell them to go get fu***d just like they fu***d the loyal customers.

Do it…awesome

Love it!!!

So childish – folks on this site do not seem to understand the fundamental metrics of supply and demand…. versus just being disappointed (which I understand). Blaming the mint is not the right response, blame the flippers that only clog up the site to flip coins.

Chas. Barber

Why woulld this SELL OUT in minutes…ANYONE>?????

With High Tech software the system should be set to lock in orders of those “online and in line” and once “in” continue to fruition and to order completion. I guess programmers can’t figure that out?

Bob Silver

Things don’t always exist that you seem would. Try writing an algorithm that “decides” who gets in line first when they hit the site at the “exact same time”. Figure that out and you’ll make some coin, no pun intended, ha-ha-ha.

They give free budget shipping to frequent buyers (which nobody really cares about) Instead how about giving your premium buyers (not coin dealers but individual collectors) first crack at these- Maybe like the first hour for them only. That way your frequent buyers can get their crack instead of the mass buyers who ruin the hobby. I am not paying $500 for an ounce of silver on the secondary market. Its bad enough that the mint is up to 75-80 dollars for an ounce. Silver eagles used to be 20-25 dollars. I dont mind paying a markup but it is… Read more »

Dear Old Ladies its NOT A COIN…Its a MEDAL!!!! GET IT!!!!! NO THANKS!!!!….LOL LOL LOL!!!!!

kevinh

Dear Old Man the gold version is indeed a COIN not a MEDAL!!!! GET IT?????

sam tweedy

They can call it whatever they want its still a poorly designed cheap looking gold MEDAL!!! LOL LOL LOL

kevinh

You can call it whatever you want. Since it is legal tender it is a coin and any collector would understand that. I think it is very well designed portraying peace and the WWII victory medal, both being what the concept was about. The only flaw I see being the silver MEDAL should reference the 2020 date.

Just like a scorned child..

I am getting tired of the way the mint treats its customers-from almost doubling the price of the silver proof set, to falsely claiming the mintage was only 200,000 on the San Francisco silver eagle coin to create fake demand, to these continuing problems with people trying to buy limited mintage coins on the website on the day of issue-start treating the people who buy your product with some level of respect-don’t take it for granted that people will keep buying your products!!

kevinh

Not only misleading by showing a mintage of 200,000 which they explained as an error, but somehow according to the Mints own sales numbers they sold 200,001 of that item (20EM) which they still state has a product limit of 200,000. USM = Unreliable Service & Marketing

sam tweedy

Same thing with last years (19EM) sold bulk items to dealers also.

kevinh

Not the bulk item (20EM040) that is a separate product, I understand that. This product (20EM) shows (now today) 200,008 in sales. That is up 7 in the last week for a supposedly SOLD OUT item and borders on fraud in my opinion when production is limited to 200,000.

Myi

How can you see how many items were sold on the US mint per product?

kevinh

Click on ‘About’ tab ‘Production and Sales Figures’ ‘Cumulative Sales Figures’ and then narrow down by description. Updates weekly when things are working at USM.

Edward Ermey

Looks like the same FIASCO as least week. And they did not even bother to put up that lame update as they did last week. And the total ZERO Customer service just like last week, or ever…it seems..

Myi

Is that the trick to use PayPal versus checking out with a credit card?
