Early United States Mint sales have been reported for the five products featuring the different sized 2020-W Proof American Gold Eagles.

Released Thursday at prices ranging from $240 to $4,040, collectors ordered a combined 14,925 coins in the first day.

Issued annually, American Gold Eagles are minted in sizes of 1 oz., 1/2 oz., 1/4 oz. and 1/10 oz. with corresponding denominations of $50, $25, $10 and $5. As is often the case, the set with one of each size was the biggest unit seller.

In related news, the U.S. Mint also strikes bullion versions of American Gold Eagles for investors. Demand for them soared this week with combined sales of 77,000 ounces, boosting their March tally to 83,500 ounces — the most for a month since January 2017. Their year-to-date sales total to 150,500 ounces.
