Designs for Georgia American Innovation Dollar

The $1 coin’s reverse (tails side) shows a hand planting seeds in soil represented by the text "TRUSTEES’ GARDEN." The fruits of that labor are depicted, as described by the Mint, with "an orange tree seedling, sassafras, grapes, white mulberry, flax, peaches, olive, and a young shoot too small to be identified."

Around the design are inscriptions of "GEORGIA," "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the artists’ initials. Emily Damstra created the artwork. Michael Gaudioso completed its sculpting.

All $1 coins from the American Innovation series share an obverse (heads side) rendition of the Statue of Liberty along with inscriptions of "$1," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the artists’ initials.

This CoinNews photo shows the obverse or head side design of an uncirculated 2019 American Innovation dollar. This design is common across all 2019-dated and forthcoming Innovation dollars. The obverse design for the series introductory dollar in 2018 was the same, minus the privy mark of a stylized gear.

Justin Kunz created the image and Phebe Hemphill sculpted it. 2019-dated dollar obverses also have a small privy mark of a stylized gear unlike the introductory design for 2018.
