Back then, I read on their coin blog that under Australian law 10% of all coins offered by the two Mints must be reserved for residents of Australia to purchase. Interesting law for sure.

Thanks, Mike. People who think the prices are high may want to consider that the RAM’s 1 oz silver domed coins (may of which have increased in value esp. the 2012 Cruz) usually sell from the mint and other retailers for about $90-100 and sell out quickly. Add $35 for the clad half and it is not hard to see the $125 price tag (plus shipping if you buy from the RAM).

Louis, I edited the article to help clarify the set’s pricing (I hope). The Royal Australian Mint is charging AUD $177.27 for international orders. U.S. buyers also pay for freight airmail at AUD $35. In U.S. dollars, the combined total converts to roughly $149.

The Australian dollar is worth .70 USD, so 195 AUD is 135 USD. The Mint also charges shipping but the set can also be ordered from many dealers around the world, including some that give free shipping. I got 1 set and 2 single 1 oz coins with a different finish from those in the set for about $300.
