I bought the S & W MS-70 through PCGS first strike label, the W mint is clearly a nicer looking coin as far as the mirror like finish for some reason.

In reply to Seth Riesling. It is a great design that has endured for a long time. I wonder if the mint might shake it up a bit by rotating a few other designs that I like? How about a couple of years with the flowing hair and skinny eagle dollar and then a couple of years with draped busted dollar skinny eagle then the heraldic form? I'm sure other suggestions are out on this thread. Happy Collecting to you Seth and all!

In reply to Mark. Nope. The series started in ‘86 with the “S” mint mark on proofs and continued thru ‘92 I believe. Just boring. At least put the mint mark on the obverse for a change. A very simple but nice little twist. No one at the mint can even come up with that. All they care about are their politically correct humanitarian causes. I mean we don’t have become a toy factory like the RCM but plz do something fresh.

Per the public law that created these coins in 1986, “E Pluribus Unum” is an inscription required by law to be on all USA legal tender coins. So it is a required inscription & not a part of the eagle design per se.
