Well according to collectors who bought on aug 3th, their orders are still pending. I guess i was right they probably dont have the sets hsn returned yet. If so the mint will have shipped the aug 3th orders already. Collectors on coin forums are starting to think the mint will pull the rug from under them and not get the sets after all. If the mint didnt shipped the 20000 sets then there will be no problems shipping orders. They have to get the sets back and check for damage etc. So it will probably be awhile for people that order after aug 1st. Those orders shipped fast cause they had them, not the case now. So the 20000 sets were return not cancel rodney

Rodney Moore -

That is the best explanation on the subject. The Mint officials at the ANA show August 1-5 in Denver refused to say what dealer cancelled the order of 20,000 sets or why. They simply said an order for 20,000 sets was cancelled. Everyone should also know that you can cancel any U.S. Mint order at any time until the time the order ships, 7 days as week with customer service.

@ Alvaro and something that everyone should read,
My understanding was that 20,000 sets was "canceled" as opposed to being "returned".
The mint offered them on the first at 12 noon, then resumed on the 2cnd at 11:00 am. some 23 hours later. It's not possible that HSN ordered them on the 1st, received them the same day, inspected 50,000 sets, returned them instantly, and then the mint starts selling them the next day at 11 am some 23 hours later. That's just not possible.
I'm sure that screwy things happen but in this particular case it just isn't possible for anyone to get them, inspect them, and return them, and the mint to receive, inspect and then re-list them in the span of just 23 hours.
If I had to guess, someone made the order for 20,000 sets and that is $600,000.00. When the mint processed the order that huge charge probably went thru as pre-authorized and then got reversed a little bit later by the bank.
Besides, I doubt the mint is organized enough to accept a return and then make that quantity available to be sold again in just an hour or two. They would just about have to inspect a returned item before selling it. But if the sets never left the mint they probably just reconciled the inventory count and made them available for sale again and I can see them doing that quickly. That's about the only reasonable explanation for the situation.

Alvaro -

The situation you describe has been going on for years. The Mint used to offer a 30-day return period until about 10 years ago. Dealers & collectors were buying gold & platinum coins & playing the precious metals market. If the price of the metal went up within 30 days, they kept the coins & if the price of the metal went down, they returned them. They also returned any coins they thought would not have a chance of grading at 70. They still do this, but only have 7 days from receipt of the order to return for a refund. The Mint resells the returned coins, unless they have major damage on the coin or medal or the packaging. I recommend that everyone look very closely at their Mint order ASAP upon delivery & return anything you don't like because you may have a "problem" coin or medal or coin set that someone else rejected.

The mint should stop selling in bulk to big dealers, theyre getting played, they are not really selling the sets, they are just borrowing the sets to the big dealers to cherry pick, then they will return the rest back when hsn get their 936 sp70 sets. Mike mezack said he bought 30000 sets, what do you think happened to the rest of the 20,000 plus sets. The mint is now selling hsn rejects.

Not interested in palladium bullion myself, still waiting for the proof coin. Not yet in the product schedule (I guess they're still afraid to commit to a date for the coin) even though they did finish the year with their useless ATB quarter releases. See mint people, you CAN show your schedule for more than one month ahead! They even put the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set down for an Oct 5 release date. How brazen of them.
