Still available as of 12:05 pm ..

coinstar

just talked to someone from u.s. mint, sets become available again due to cancelled orders, so must be close to sellout unless they were HUGE orders

NW Robert

just ordered one 11:41 PDST NP.

coinstar

these are nice sets, but the mintage is just too high on them

andy

Another marketing disaster with this set still available. Grading services and TV marketers make most of the money, and collectors suffer from this and the Kennedy half disaster. As for the Denver ANA first day labels, eventually they will be worth the same as first day stamp covers. Proof set mintages have been in continuous decline for over 10 years, partially because buying new mint product for $30 when tons of old mint product is available for less than $10 per set. With ASE, ATB 5 ounce quarters, ATB S quarters, NA dollars, commems and tons of other stuff coming… Read more »

coinstar

that is spot on. most of the u.s. mint products depreciate, and in a big way, most mint sets and proof sets in the 2000’s sell for less than 1/2 of issue price. can’t invest in the stock market now either, it’s already in a bubble and more than likely will crash sometime this year

Seth Riesling

andy –

You make some great points for sure. I have always said the Mint could please almost everyone with a household limit of 1 item for limited edition items for the first day of issue would be most fair.
I have seen older Proof sets selling for $4-$7 each with some dealers (the ones with 5 clad coins). There is simply too much older stuff out there and 291 products available today from the Mint. It is a crazy situation!

-NumisDudeTx

Tinto

And the dud designs for the most part …

Tinto

Coin World is saying part of the renewed availability was due to one dealer cancelling an order for 20,000 (!!) sets ….. wonder who it was

http://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/2017/08/enhanced-uncirculated-coin-set-back-on-sale-at-mint.html

Dirtcheap

I agree with all the points above. I do feel this set could do decent in the long for the reason of there are not a ton of really cool Pennies Nickles Dimes and Quarters. I think collectors who collect those coins which there are millions will need these coins for their sets. Just a thought…

coinstar

well, a 6 million dollar order cancelled, could be mcm, apmex, coin vault to name a few, not too many muti-millionaires out there. should extend the sales for a few days

coinstar

they probably noticed all the sellers on e bay running the prices down to break even prices

Dirtcheap

I think this will one that might settle around 60 ish once the market gets rid of the under cutters…

coinstar

there are a bunch of new listings that popped up, all in the 43 dollar range with free shipping, that’s a one dollar profit to process one order after fees

ROB J

4:28 CDT. Still available

gary

just read article that enhanced set was back on sale and i bought one more at 5:50 PM 8/3/17 cool

gary

i bet a lot of people don’t know about this

RODNEY MOORE

Well, as someone said, I bet not many people know about this. As soon as the story appeared in my Google news feed I logged on at 9:00 pm Eastern time and ordered 2 more sets. I wonder how this made the people feel that paid double on ebay only for the mint to start back selling them? I wonder if there will be any returns because of this? The lack of a HH limit is really messed up. For me, ill send in 2 cases that have the nickel, dime, 50C & cent to be graded . I don’t… Read more »

Tinto

And I wonder how some of those eBay sellers can keep stating “Sold Out” …. though the Mint never stated that. And eBay lets these sellers get away with it.

Tinto

@RODNEY MOORE And a TPG like PCGS will even put “FIRST STRIKE” even though they cannot offer any definitive proof that the coin in question was indeed first struck. Of course first strike would mean the first one from the die … the rest in that batch don’t count. Wasn’t there a lawsuit on that “First Strike” term and NGC dropped it and used “Early Releases” instead … but PCGS kept it .. I only get the coins graded without a fancy label and only because the environment is such that any raw coin is gonna be sold only at… Read more »

The newly released coins are certainly taking a lot longer to move.
It highlights the actual demand, and how badly these large shops interrupted supply.

Seth Riesling

The only coins from this set that will be worth a good premium are those that get graded SP-70. Nice sets, but 225,000 sets mintage is high & they still haven’t sold out & this week is the ANA coin show & convention in Denver – the largest coin show in the world! The Mint sold them here at the show & at the Denver Mint Gift Shop not far from the convention center. Plus sales of these sets at the Philadelphia Mint Gift Shop & Mint headquarters lobby sales area in Washington DC. And no sellout yet! Save your… Read more »

@Seth Riesling

Though I probably won’t buy the Palladium coin at least the eagle is shown in full and not have a portion (like the tail feathers.) cut off by the rim ..

Tinto

Just saw Coin Vault … they’re now hawking a PCGS holdered Denver ANA show EU set for about $480 (1 of 1,000) ….. I just took a short glance and flipped the channel but it didn’t seem to be graded … just probably an “Unc” or something like that .. but it’s a total rip-off .. and some folks want to be ripped off ….

Seth Riesling

Tinto –

I too think the eagle on the upcoming new Palladium American Eagle bullion $25 coin coming out in September is beautiful & well balanced. The bullion version will be available next month from dealers & a Proof version comes out next year. Should be very popular. Although palladium has gone up so much this year due to investor speculation.
The Coin Vault has been ripping off people with their cable TV coin show since 1988! Sad thing.

-NumisDudeTx

Dennis B

I bought one one ebay before reading this article. Went to the Mint’s page at 1:40 am and and was still for sale. Bought one with over night shipping. Wish I read your article first. Oh well, live and learn.

RODNEY MOORE

I looked on ebay last night at the auctions for the “sold out/not sold out” EU set. I messaged the first listing that i saw screaming ‘SOLD OUT!!!’ and mentioned that the set wasnt sold out. The seller’s response was not cheerfulYes I know. I’m about to cancel all my listings and send all my sets back to the mint for a full refund. Thanks for the heads up. Make sure you email all the other 300 people who are listing these sets on eBay. End quote. But of course, the seller didnt end the auction and it sold for… Read more »

don’t forget the 3.5 percent paypal fee also, shipping supplies cost money too. I believe you get a discount on orders over 100,000 from the mint too, like 5 percent, plus it takes about 20 minutes to process a order so he’s working for free also

Broadwing

Ain’t this a hoot? 12:25 pm on 4 Aug, and the little buggers are still for sale! Really strange but fun to watch. I wonder how all the people who constantly brag, “Got my five set right at 12:00 Noon when I hit the buy button,” feel now? What a wealth of energy and stress for a set that’s still available. They could have waited a still bought their set at their leasure!

jim

Not interested in palladium bullion myself, still waiting for the proof coin. Not yet in the product schedule (I guess they’re still afraid to commit to a date for the coin) even though they did finish the year with their useless ATB quarter releases. See mint people, you CAN show your schedule for more than one month ahead! They even put the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set down for an Oct 5 release date. How brazen of them.

Alvaro

The mint should stop selling in bulk to big dealers, theyre getting played, they are not really selling the sets, they are just borrowing the sets to the big dealers to cherry pick, then they will return the rest back when hsn get their 936 sp70 sets. Mike mezack said he bought 30000 sets, what do you think happened to the rest of the 20,000 plus sets. The mint is now selling hsn rejects.

Seth Riesling

Alvaro – The situation you describe has been going on for years. The Mint used to offer a 30-day return period until about 10 years ago. Dealers & collectors were buying gold & platinum coins & playing the precious metals market. If the price of the metal went up within 30 days, they kept the coins & if the price of the metal went down, they returned them. They also returned any coins they thought would not have a chance of grading at 70. They still do this, but only have 7 days from receipt of the order to return… Read more »

RODNEY MOORE

@ Alvaro and something that everyone should read, My understanding was that 20,000 sets was “canceled” as opposed to being “returned”. The mint offered them on the first at 12 noon, then resumed on the 2cnd at 11:00 am. some 23 hours later. It’s not possible that HSN ordered them on the 1st, received them the same day, inspected 50,000 sets, returned them instantly, and then the mint starts selling them the next day at 11 am some 23 hours later. That’s just not possible. I’m sure that screwy things happen but in this particular case it just isn’t possible… Read more »

Seth Riesling

Rodney Moore –

That is the best explanation on the subject. The Mint officials at the ANA show August 1-5 in Denver refused to say what dealer cancelled the order of 20,000 sets or why. They simply said an order for 20,000 sets was cancelled. Everyone should also know that you can cancel any U.S. Mint order at any time until the time the order ships, 7 days as week with customer service.

-NumisDudeTx

Alvaro

Well according to collectors who bought on aug 3th, their orders are still pending. I guess i was right they probably dont have the sets hsn returned yet. If so the mint will have shipped the aug 3th orders already. Collectors on coin forums are starting to think the mint will pull the rug from under them and not get the sets after all. If the mint didnt shipped the 20000 sets then there will be no problems shipping orders. They have to get the sets back and check for damage etc. So it will probably be awhile for people… Read more »
