NW Robert, it does appear that the vapor blast process significantly lessens the chance that milk spots will develop. I contend this because while I have seen a fair number of bullion ATB coins with some milk spots, I have personally only seen 1 Unc (vapor blast) ATB with 1 small milk spot.

As for pricing, it would be appreciated by collectors like me if the US Mint brought back the discounted pre-order of these coins. I took advantage from the beginning of that short lived pre-order discount promotion and I’d immediately sign up if they’d offer it again.

I wonder if the vapor blasted versions of the 5 oz. coin get milk spots? That would be extremely irritating with the premium price.

The mint will likely raise prices on these before they lower them. Just l0k@ how much they want for the 2017 Ag medal. Or the plat proof almost a $500 premium as time passes. It wil not sell out @ $10k, there are not that many collectors of them. Look@ the prices for Ag commens $50 for about $13 worth of silver, and 2 bland subjects……… oh & a Unc Ag for Boys Town that will sell <3k coins & no one will care about it, it is NOT Jackie Robinson! a pPriest…..

These 2017-P .9993 fine silver 5-ounce ATB coins have a special “vapor-blast” finish that the grading services grade as “Specimen” (SP) while the bullion versions without the Mint mark are graded as MS.
The Mint has not lowered the price on these in a couple of years even as silver went under $15 an ounce during the day a few days ago.
