The Mint has produced Treasury Secretary medals on & off since 1890. Seems like a random process. They also used to strike medals for the US Mint Director in bronze. Obviously, they are not big sellers. Lew”s father was a Jewish immigrant, which is why Ellis Island is depicted on this medal. And Harriet Tubman will be on the new $20 FRN in 2020 as promised by Lew.
