The Mint mark “W” is where it should be as you described.

Can’t seem to find the mint mark. The silver SL’s have them next to the bottom star to the left of the date. There is no “W” there in the pic…

FYI, on the 2016 24-karat gold 100th anniversary coins could reach between 145,000 and 225,000 units combined…. So it should be a decent low mintage for the walking Liberty 1/4oz coin.

coinworld.com has just posted a video of their visit to the West Point Mint showing the striking of the new gold SL quarter coins. They also posted the photos of the 2016-W high relief American Liberty silver Proof medals they saw while at the West Point Mint back in June.

Seth and everyone else. The selling out of the gold quarter, Gold 50 cent piece and the proof silver Eagles is I forgone conclusion. They all will sell out. It’s just a matter of how many minted, how many collectors will be allowed to buy and how much each will cost. One more, how long it will take each to sell out. Proof Silver Eagles will take the longest because their Silver, cheaper and more will be made. Good luck and Happy Collecting.
I’m just wondering if their will be any “surprises” at the 11th hour worth collecting. A 5oz. High releif Silver Eagle would be nice for a start.

As for medal mintages, it’s an open door for the Mint to do whatever they want.
Best to just buy for the design here.

The Mint has displayed one of the gold SL quarters at a few coin shows since May when photos of it were first published. Very beautiful like the gold dime. Whatever the mintage is, it will sell out quickly I think with collectors, dealers, flippers & investors going for the 3-coin gold centennial coins program.

This just came to mind, it is also possible that the Mint wanted to avoid all the questions at the upcoming ANA show about the big releases still on “TBD” and they had to throw something out before then. JMO
