Beginning August 9, the BEP will offer for the first time its new 50-note uncut sheets of $1 FRNs. The 32-note uncut sheets of $1 FRNs were first offered for sale in the 1980s & was the standard for all denominations till now. The BEP purchased special printing presses from a company in Switzerland to increase production at both the Washington DC & Ft. Worth facilities. A new era in paper money collecting.

Joe C. -

When I got the email about this set a week ago from the BEP, I too thought the price was a little high & think 5,000 sets would have been a better limited edition. But these are the older Series 2009 notes printed just before the new Secretary of the Treasury Jacob J. Lew took office in 2013. So the BEP had to pull these notes a couple years in advance of the 25th anniversary of the Western Currency Printing Facility in Ft. Worth, Texas. Also, there are gift shops at the end of the BEP public tours in DC & Texas & will be popular sets with visitors, especially in Texas. Also, the BEP will have a big sales & exhibit booth at the largest numismatic show & convention in the world in just 2 weeks August 9-13 in Anaheim, California. California has more coin clubs than any other state & more active collectors too, so I suspect sales of these sets at that show will be high. I just hope for low serial numbers like you! On the recent Happy Birthday $1 notes, I lucked out & got notes in the "20160350" range of 5,000 sets.

Happy collecting everyone!

Ordered 2 sets, but think the price is too high. Would have ordered 5 sets if the price had been between $14.95 and $19.95. 6500 sets is pretty low. I like special notes, so what are you going to do? I paid the price. At least the BEP doesn't charge for shipping like the mint does. Who will end up with low serial numbers? Nobody knows. As always, it's the luck of the draw.
Happy collecting to all.
