Their low mintage Star Trek Transporter sets are excellent. And look at what they have just done! A 1 Kilo .999 gold coin with the rarest gemstone in the world, a .54ct. Red Diamond. I know there is only one and it isn’t cheap but, it just shows what’d the Perth Mint is willing to do. They have more sell outs than any other mint in the world and along with the R.C.M and Poboy mint the best collection of unique, low mintage coins available. My absolute favorite coin of them all is the Pobjoy Mint “Angel” series. I have over 200 different ones, going back to the original French coin and Henry the VIII version. Reissued in 1985, was coin of the year and is made in a tenth ounce to a very rare 15oz. Coin. I was lucky last year and got the limited edition of 500 first ever Incused Silver and gold coins. Silver was 1oz. And graded 70 was under $200.00. The gold was only minted in a tenth oz. And 1oz. Graded in 70, limited to 500 were Under $200.00 and $4,000.00 each. This year, they minted a first ever 1oz. Silver Reverse Proof. I think that along with the St. Gaudens $20.00 gold piece, the Angel Coins are two of the most beautiful coins ever made. The Ukraine even Mints their version in 1oz. Silver and Gold. There’s a special issue this year honoring the military with an Angel on top with her wings spread over soldiers.
Next on my must collect coins are Dragon and Endangered Cat coind. Once again, turn to the Perth Mint for some of the most beautiful coins.
They outdid China buy a mile in 2000 and especially in 2012, the last two “Year of the Dragon. I hope I’m around in 2024 to see what they mint for the next Y.O.D. Tell me your favorites, I’d love to hear who loves to collect what.
Last thing, if I wouldn’t have been one of the lucky 4,000 in 2015 to get a Proof Platinum Liberty, I wouldn’t have bothered to get the 2016 coin. Boring! The Mint, listen to us, look around at what other Mints are producing, loosen your ties, change a few laws and get with the program
Please! A 5oz. High releif Proof Silver Eagle would be a nice start. Add a little color. Get Mercantie back. Change the system and start making some very desirable and unique coins.
You showed it in 2009, last year with the 1oz. Gold Lincoln and that $100.00 gold coin. The Gold Buffalo in 2006 and this year with the gold dime, quarter and 50 cent piece. That’s only 7 coins in 10 years that showed innovation. Probably missed a few but, those are the only that come to mind. Keep on collecting while we can. The Queen or a President?

Thanks for the email. There is a company called FirstCoin in California. They have some of the most unique coins I have ever seen or bought. Alot are fro Niue, minted by the Perth mint. If you can, order coins in stock and use the code “thankyou” at check out for an extra 3% off. They have a large collection of unique coins found nowhere else. If you “preorder”, be patient as it could take 3 to 6 months for them to come. But, the wait is worth it. The latest coin I got was a 2oz. Antiqued coin from Niue, minted by Perth. It was the Trojan Horse. Came in a nice wood box, encapsulated, limited to 500 with a wood shield on it. Had a small circle of the Queen and Greek warships on the front, back had a large Trojan Horse shown inside Troy. Very detailed, we’ll made and the first in a serise called “Ancient Myths. Was around $250.00 and highly collectable as all their coins are. There is much, much more. You and others looking for affordable low mintage unique coins need to check FirstCoin .com out. You will not be disappointed.
To sum it up, if you want low mintage, unique, highly collectable, affordable coins, check them, the Perth Mint and the R.C.M. out. Most any coin with the Queen on the front and not a President are the coins you want. I’m sorry U.S.Mint, you have to start thinking out of the box and follow suit with other world Mints. You are way behind the curve. The amount of Silver Eagles you minted in 2015 was rediculous and the Silver could have been used to make more unique coins.

Diversity and quality along with an excellent company help make for great collecting. The U.S. Mint just keeps minting what seems like the same old, same old. The best thing I can say about this year’s coins from the U.S. Mint are the gold Dime, Quarter and Fifty Cent piece. I do wish they were made in one ounce of .999 gold like the Buffalo nickle and I’m hoping for a 5 ounce high releif Silver Eagle. Nice to hear from you.

You are so right! I have been purchasing more low mintage coins from Perth Mint Australia & RCM over the past few years & cutting back on some of the common US Mint coins.
