Today, May 17, the United States Mint released its latest coin cover that includes two circulating-quality dollars featuring Gerald R. Ford.

Limited to 20,000 and priced at $19.95, this product for collectors is the 38th overall and second-to-last release in the American Presidency $1 Coin Cover Series.

The two coins in these covers are exceptionally unique because each is a first-day production strike. There’s a dollar from the U.S. Mint facility in Philadelphia, made on Dec. 1, 2015, and a dollar from the facility in Denver, made on Dec. 16, 2015.

A protective display card houses both coins, with the front side of the card featuring a portrait of the president and a postmark stating, "ANN ARBOR STATION, ANN ARBOR, MI," and "MAY 17 2016." The city is the location of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library & Museum, and the date marks the day of the coin cover’s release. On the back of the card is information about President Ford, the dollars, and the product itself.

Each display card comes inside an envelope bearing a U.S. Red, White, and Blue Forever® postage stamp.

On March 8, the United States Mint also released rolls, bags and boxes of 2016 Ford Presidential dollars

Designed and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill, obverses or "heads side" of the $1 coin offer a likeness of Ford, surrounded by inscriptions that read: GERALD R. FORD, IN GOD WE TRUST, 38th PRESIDENT and 1974-1977 for the years he served as commander-in-chief.

All Presidential dollars have the same reverse or "tails side" design featuring Don Everhart’s rendition of the Statue of Liberty. Inscriptions around Lady Liberty include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and $1.

Dollar coins also share edge lettering denoting their year of issue, a ‘P’ or ‘D’ mint mark for the mint of origin, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
