Iconic creatures of Canada take center stage in the Royal Canadian Mint’s new 2016 Reflections of Wildlife Fine Silver 3-Coin Subscription. Coins of the series feature an animal with their reflections uniquely cast in rippling water.
Each coin is composed in one-half ounce of 99.99% pure silver and is limited to 15,000. Pricing per coin is CAD $39.95, or about US $29, and the series is GST/HST exempt.
"This exciting new series explores the unexpected delights and soul-stirring awe that can be experienced during those rare, privileged moments of observing an animal interacting with water," promotes the Royal Canadian Mint’s website. "It is a touching moment of quiet contemplation that is beautifully expressed through each coin in this series — unparalleled masterpieces that collectors and nature enthusiasts will treasure."
The three coins of the Reflections of Wildlife Series depict the following animals:
- Grizzly Bear
- Otter
- Arctic Fox
The first coin’s reverse shows a grizzly bear (Ursus arctos) at the water’s edge. Finishing techniques enhance the reflection of the bear in the surface of the water. Behind, a classic Canadian landscape is offered.
The subsequent Otter and Arctic Fox silver coins showcase similar imagery on their reverse sides. Reverse inscriptions on all of them include CANADA, 2016 and MB for their designer, artist Maurade Baynton.
