2015 Winter Freeze Silver Coin Designs and Specifications

Canadian artists Tony Bianco and Arnold Nogy created the unique artwork found on the coin’s reverse or tails side. In the design, three evening grosbeaks are perched on ice-covered branches of a tree. The birds and berries of the tree appear in vibrant colors. In the distance, a traditional Canadian countryside is shown. Lastly, a high gloss overlay recreates the glistening ice veneer of a winter freeze. The enhanced finish is a Mint first.

CANADA, 2015 and the legal tender face value of 20 DOLLARS are inscribed around the design.

The obverse offers Susanna Blunt’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Inscribed around the effigy are ELIZABETH II and D G REGINA.
