I won't buy this HR Liberty coin, something just didn't smell right to me, with all the long hoopla about UHR and a silver medal which suddenly became an HR coin with no silver medal (and nothing on it from the Mint) with a way over the top household limit of 50 coins (which only serves ONE group's interests - the big time buyers/dealers) ... I betcha this coin was not in the bulk buyers' authorized list so the Mint had to find a way to give their benefactors the opportunity to score big anyways and one way is to jack up the HH limit (maybe the Mint got this idea from one of their big time dealers/bulk buyers) and the Mint thinks a lot of the regular collectors are so stupid as to not notice ... It seems more and more to me that this might have been tailored for the big boys who were hoping to score big after the Kennedy gold .... but maybe the high authorized mintage and high premium kept away some "end user" collectors who might just view this as a bullion in a semi pretty dress.

And though I like the reverse, I just couldn't get myself to like the obverse ... it looked a little familiar but I can't put my finger on why it is so, maybe it will hit me one day.

Only 83.9% of the glorious $100.00 Liberty sold to date? This is a coin that should have sold out the first day. And, all the problems with the rims and scratching? A failure if I ever saw one. There will probably be some left for Christmas. Next year is the one I'm waiting for, 30th anniversary of the Silver Eagle, I hope they make sets of Fractionals like the Libertad and the gold Mercury dime, Seated Liberty Quarter and Standing Liberty 50 cent piece minted in gold. Who knows what else, I just hop the mint gets it right, both designing, minting and selling. We can only wait and hope.
