Today at noon ET, Sept. 3, the U.S. Mint released the final 2015-dated Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set. This newest collectible commemorates Lyndon B. Johnson, the 36th President of the United States, and his wife Claudia Taylor "Lady Bird" Johnson.

Johnson Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal Set
The front card of the Johnson Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Set includes portraits of the two and their signatures. The back side offers information about the medal and coin, including specifications, and a short biography of the president.

Produced for collectors and priced at $9.95, the set contains one uncirculated quality Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential $1 Coin and one Lady Bird First Spouse Bronze Medal. The coin and medal are displayed in a protective plastic card that features portraits of the President and Mrs. Johnson, their signatures, historical information, and a U.S. Mint certificate of authenticity.

Johnson $1s went on sale in U.S. Mint-branded rolls, bags and boxes on Aug. 18, 2015. Six product options are available, and their prices range from $32.95 to $275.95. Since their mid-August release, collectors have ordered more than x.xx million of them.

The bronze medal is in the same likeness as Lady Bird Johnson First Spouse Gold Coins, which debuted last Thursday on Aug. 27. All First Spouse Gold Coins are produced in the U.S. Mint facility at West Point, from one-half ounce of .9999 fine gold, and in collector finishes of proof and uncirculated. The Mint is selling the proof coins for $765 and the uncirculated coins for $745. Their prices could change from week to week based on the market value of gold. Sales through Sunday, Aug. 30, registered at 1,287 for the proof and 933 for the uncirculated for a combined 2,220.

In the first few years of the program, the U.S. Mint would sell First Spouse Bronze Medals individually. In 2011, however, they discontinued that option. Since then, Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets have been a primary source for getting the bronze medals of the former First Ladies.
