That was funny BOZ. Too bad they did not have a common theme throughout like what how the White House appeared during their stay as the First Lady of it. IMVHO.

That said, it appears that together with that theme several things also happen to coins offered to collectors that can truly impact their sales.

Price, (too expensive)
size, (about right for the gold material)
material content, (gold)
total population, (for a 38/76 coins {w/some melted} is extremely low)
age, (recently issued)
beauty, (is ALL in the eye of the beholder, right?)

The main thing is they all truly very under-appreciated, and perhaps an opportunity missed - time will tell.

They are not technically a commemorative, nor a bullion coin, for they are not traded like one. The Red book places them in the bullion section for they truly are what can be noted as odd-balls.

However,
IMVHO I wonder if they are some 86 or so total coins (MS/PF) that will be the 100 year later numerous versions of the $50 Pan-Am 1915 gold coin sold at a tremendous premium of $100 way-back-when.

Note:
They were issued by the U.S. Mint with a dollar denomination as legal tender and do share many things between the series as dates of office, number of presidency, year of coin, OBS front the spouse or old coin of the age, OBS reverse something somebody did, and frankly are quite striking when looking at them all to date. Now how about Hillary?

PS - LBJ was number 11 president overall in ratings.
