Earlier today, Aug. 4, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) began accepting orders for its collection of $2 notes from three different Federal Reserve Banks.

Limited to 2,000 sets and with each note in the collection bearing a serial number starting with ‘2015’, interested money collectors should order soon as this annually issued product tends to sell quickly.

This year’s $2 Single Note Collection includes the following three banknotes:

  • a Series 2013 $2 note from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas,
  • a Series 2009 $2 note from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and
  • a Series 2009 $2 note from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

The bills are inside a clear, acid-free polymer sleeve that is held within a folder representative of the corresponding Federal Reserve District. Each complete set has non-matching serial numbers.

Pricing and Ordering

Pricing for the 2015 $2 Single Note Collection is $23.85, which breaks down to $7.95 per note. Place orders at www.moneyfactorystore.gov.

There is a household ordering limit of 2 sets during the pre-release period of August 4 to 10, 2015. If inventory remains beyond that period, the restriction will be removed. Also at that time, up to 5,000 individual notes each for the Series 2013 Dallas and Series 2009 San Francisco bank designations will be available for $7.95.

Interesting, non-matching serial numbers is classified as a feature. Beyond the “2015” what would it be called if the remainder of the 3 serial numbers did match?

In this case matching serial numbers in exception to 2015 would I supose be called counterfeit. In I believe 1995 the wife and I visited the BEP. we purchased a 64 note uncut sheet 1963 A series.I doubt it’s worth more than maybe $100 today but novel and interesting. We find this set interesting and purchased 2 sets.I will be interested to see how long til sell out.

seen them on eBay 85.00 for one set 8/4/15

Not counterfeit as the numbers can be the same as long as the letters are different which they would be coming from 3 different banks.

You want to make sure you get a sheet of $10 before Hamilton is replaced by a woman in 2020. The new woman $10 should be of value and once Hamilton disappears those should increase in value too.

Just placed my order. I’ve always loved the $2 dollar bill. It will be the my first order from the US Treasury. Free shipping too. 🙂

This is a BIG ripoff. Two dollar bills are worth $2, nothing more (and in the future perhaps not even that). You’re paying for some fancy mounting that is completely worthless when/if you want to sell these in the future. Take it from me who is sitting on hundreds of dollars worth of Franklin Mint and US mint junk left to me from dead relatives that aren’t worth a nickel. Prices seen on ebay are prices put on by hopeful sellers.

Yeah, it’s like paying a premium for a graded coin just because it has a special piece of paper in the capsule that in itself is as worthless as any other piece of paper. A hoax made up by the graders to increase sales and especially profits.

Dale

yeah, might not be a good investment I just like the 2 dollar bill.. only 23.95.
