2015-W $50 Proof American Gold Eagle
This 2015-W $50 Proof American Gold Eagle and other sizes go on sale Thursday

Trending gold values have virtually locked in prices for the upcoming 2015-W Proof American Gold Eagles. They have also set the stage for pricing cuts in other United States Mint collectibles gold coins, including the $5 U.S. Marshals Service commemoratives and 50th anniversary Kennedy halves.

U.S. Mint gold pricing adjustments have happened three times this year — they’ve climbed twice and dropped once. The last change was a decrease on Feb. 11 when the weekly average of the London gold Fix slipped to within the $1,200.00 to $1,249.99 an ounce range. The latest average has firmly entrenched into a pricing tier that’s $50 lower, although gold fixings on Wednesday must still be considered.

CoinNews Update: The U.S. Mint did reduce gold coin prices on Wednesday. New prices are in the "Likely" column below.

The bottom line… if Wednesday’s PM gold fix is below $1,200.00 an ounce — and the spot is at $1,162.40 now, expect the following proof Gold Eagle prices and these reductions in other gold coins:

When the U.S. Mint adjusts coin prices, it freezes ordering of the affected products for around 30 minutes until the new prices go live. Pricing adjustments this year have tended to happen around 3:00 PM ET. Mint-sold gold coins are available at: http://catalog.usmint.gov/coins/gold-coins/.
