March finds a strong release schedule from the Perth Mint of Australia. Among new issues include an Australian Sovereign Gold Proof Coin, new ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coins, an addition to the Australian Map Shaped series, a Kimberly Sunset Pink Gold High Relief and a coin celebrating weddings.

2015 $500 Kimberly Sunset 2 Oz Pink Gold High Relief Coin

Struck in two ounces of 22-karat gold to proof quality, the 2015 Kimberly Sunset Pink Gold High Relief Coin depicts a boab tree amid a Kimberley landscape at sunset. An Argyle pink diamond is embedded near the horizon to represent the setting sun.

2015 $25 Australian Sovereign Gold Proof Coin

Gold was first discovered in New South Wales in 1851 and that led quickly to the establishment of the Sydney Branch of the Royal Mint. An unbroken 76-year run of Australian gold sovereigns followed with branches in Melbourne and Perth producing approximately 400 million of them in the period.

This year’s 2015 Australian Sovereign Gold Proof Coin honors those original sovereigns as a modern adaptation. Each is struck from 91.67% pure gold (22-karat) with a portrayal of St. Edward’s crown on the reverse and a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.

Pricing of the Australian Sovereign is now AUS $613.34, or US $477.58. Mintage is limited to 1,500.

2015 $1 Australian Map Shaped Wedge-Tailed Eagle 1 Oz Silver Coin

2015 Australian Map Shaped Wedge-Tailed Eagle Silver Coins appear as the seventh issue in this 99.9% pure silver series. This program of coins is unique in that each is struck in the shape of the Australian continent.

Shown on the reverse of the newest issue is the image of the Wedge-tailed Eagle — Australia’s largest bird of prey and one of the biggest eagles in the world. The bird is seen in mid-flight above a river with mountains.

2015 $25 Goodbye Cobber 1/4 oz Gold Proof Coin

The Perth Mint continues its ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin series with the release of the 2015 Goodbye Cobber 1/4 oz Gold Proof Coin. Each is struck from one-quarter ounce of .9999 fine gold.

Appearing on the reverse is a historic First World War design of an Australian soldier at a graveside. The ‘spirit’ of his fallen comrade can be seen comforting him. Reverse inscriptions include 1915 GOODBYE COBBER, GOD BLESS YOU and the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

Mintage of the coin is limited to 1,000. Pricing is now AUS $631.82 or US $491.73.

2015 $30 Lest We Forget 1 Kilo Silver Proof Coin

Also issued under the Perth Mint’s Anzac Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin program is the 2015 Lest We Forget 1 Kilo Silver Proof Coin. A colored reverse design shows a Fallen Soldier Battle Cross. Words and phrases associated with the fallen heroes flank the image.

Celebrating ANZAC Day on 25 April, is the Perth Mint’s 2015 ANZAC $1 Coin. This issue is composed of aluminum bronze and features a ‘diggers’ reverse design.

Australian soldiers are depicted at Lone Pine, Gallipoli. Inscribed above is GALLIPOLI and 100 YEARS. To the side is LEST WE FORGET and APRIL 25.
