Next week marks another busy one for the U.S. Mint with several new releases to include this year’s first five ounce silver uncirculated coin, the 22nd three-coin set of quarters, dollar coins honoring the 30th President of the United States and the year’s final American Silver Eagle.
Up first on the Mint’s schedule is the Monday, April 7, launch of the 2014 Great Smoky Mountains National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. Offered at $154.95, it is the first of five uncirculated America the Beautiful Silver Coins for 2014.
This three-inch, 99.9% pure silver coin features identical designs to Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains Quarter, which was released into circulation on Jan. 27. Differences include the sizes, naturally, and the edge letterings on the silver coin of ".999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE." The big coins carry a ‘P’ mint mark to denote their production at the Philadelphia Mint.

Tuesday, April 8, brings the 2014 Shenandoah National Park Three-Coin Set for $9.95. Like the prior 21 sets, it includes three quarters – one each from Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Denver – mounted on a display card. In this case, the quarters honor Shenandoah National Park in Virginia with an image of the park on the display card. Shenandoah quarters entered circulation on Monday and are available directly from the U.S. Mint in rolls and bags.

Get ready for rolls, bags and boxes of Calvin Coolidge Presidential $1 Coins. Launching on Thursday, April 10, prices for the products range from $32.95 to $275.95. The lower price gets you a 25-coin roll from either Denver or Philadelphia. The higher price gets 250-coin boxes of the dollars from either location. In the middle, for $111.95, are 100-coin bags of Coolidge Presidential $1 Coins from Denver or Philadelphia.

Also on Thursday, the Mint will make available the 2014 Uncirculated American Silver Eagle. It’s the last Silver Eagle for this year with the bullion version launched back on Jan. 13 and the proof version issued on Jan. 23 for $52.95. The uncirculated coin is less expensive at $43.95.

BIG Surprise only 25000 for the 5oz ATB silver
I thought I would try subscriptions for a while but now I am not so sure. It is convenient, and there is a slight discount on some things. But so far the extra postage charges are wiping out my savings. NormallyI would order several items in the same buy, such as the items releasing this week, and would only pay $4.95 one time. With the subscriptions there is a separate postage fee on the P D and S items, as each is considered, by subscription, a separate order even if shipped the same day. Re subscriptions, I find that the savings are significant. For the five oz ATB, I often buy two and end up selling one for a profit after a couple of years. Since I save $15 per coin, I order them in separate boxes, paying $4.95 each in shipping, but still save $10 per coin. I get them boxed separately for ease of resale later. If I ordered two in one box I’d save about $25 if I got them via subscription. I also found that the subscriptions were not worthwhile because of the shipping expense, except for only for the ATB 5 oz. coin. The mint can quit wasting money on their bag giveaway and instead get rid of the shipping costs.
