A few days later, representatives from the United States Mint and National Park Service will officially unveil the quarter commemorating the park in Virginia at a special launch ceremony. Surrounding that ceremony is a coin forum and a coin exchange. Each of these events is free and open to the public.

This national park quarter, the second issue of the year and the 22nd overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program, features Phebe Hemphill’s design of a day hiker taking in the view from Little Stony Man summit.

Shenandoah National Park Quarter Ceremony – Time and Location

Take part in the official quarter unveiling on April 4, 2014. This event makes for a unique time for children and coin enthusiasts who like to get a first glance at the quarters. The launch ceremony kicks off mid-morning and is expected to last about 30-40 minutes. Here are time and location details:

Date: April 4, 2014
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Location:
Skyline High School

Coin Exchange

Immediately after the ceremony, a coin exchange begins where anyone can swap cash for $10 rolls of the new coins.

There is a one-roll ($10) minimum and a 10-roll ($100) maximum. A few collectors will wait and go through the coin exchange line more than once, which is generally fine.

Coin Forum Prior to Shenandoah National Park Quarter Launch

A coin forum hosted by the U.S. Mint takes place on the evening prior to the quarter ceremony. Coin forums offer a unique opportunity to express views and ask questions about existing, new and upcoming United States Mint products. The events tend to last around an hour with the actual time dependent on the amount and type of questions. Here are time and location details:

Date: April 3, 2014
Time: 5:30 p.m. ET
Location:
Rappahannock County Library
4 Library Road
Washington, VA 22747

Upcoming Quarters

As part of the America the Beautiful Quarter series, five quarters per year will launch until 2021. Issued first in 2014 was the Tennessee quarter honoring Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Upcoming 2014 America the Beautiful Quarters celebrate Arches National Park in Utah, Great Sand Dunes National park in Colorado and Everglades National Park in Florida.
