Pricing and release dates for the collectible 2014 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins have been revealed by the United States Mint.

The bureau also announced that the first investor 2014 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin will go on sale Monday, March 17, 2014.

This week the U.S. Mint rolled out updates to its online catalog, adding release dates for products scheduled to launch in April, May and June; publishing new products’ pages for the upcoming annual 2014 Proof Set and the 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins (see new baseball coin images); and also listing prices for the five ounce silver coins.

This year’s America the Beautiful coins honor five national parks. The five ounce collector silver coins and their release dates are:

Pricing and Discounts

Prices for the silver coins are established at $154.95 each. If those stick through to release time, they are attractive. With the coins stuck in five ounces of 99.9% pure silver and at Friday’s London silver fix price of $21.36 an ounce, each coin has an intrinsic or melt value of $106.80. That would place the U.S. Mint premium per ounce at $9.63. As a comparison, the Mint’s premium for its one-ounce proof Silver Eagle is $31.59.

Customers who have subscribed to receive the coins automatically catch a better break. The Mint is running a special promotion for selected subscription products that include 2014 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Silver Coins. Subscribers save 10%, bringing the price of the coins down $15.50 to $139.45. The Mint’s premium per ounce is now down to $6.53. That rings in at just about $2 more per ounce than the cost of picking up a bullion version — you just do not see prices of modern bullion and collector coins so close. As it stands now with the discount, the prices are the lowest seen.

First Bullion America the Beautiful Silver Coin

On Monday, the U.S. Mint will begin selling the 2014 Great Smoky Mountains National Park Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin to its Authorized Purchasers (APs).

APs consist of major coin and precious metals dealers and other financial intermediaries. Pre-sell prices today from dealers are running in the area of about $130 per coin.

Release dates are not yet available for the other four 2014 bullion coins.

Mintages

Mintages have not been announced for either the collector or bullion versions. For the latter, the Mint only notes that it anticipates having sufficient inventories to meet demand.

Subscription orders for Great Smoky posted on customer accounts yesterday March 14. Apparently it is now too late to start a new sub that would include GS.
