Kevin – you’ll be happy to know – the 2013 Girl Scouts coin didn’t sell enough to trigger the surcharge being paid out.

I doubt this coin will sell enough to trigger the payout either – they simply picked the wrong design.

Commemorative Coins Reform Act of 2013 – I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one. Any opportunity to give a constituent org millions of $ at no cost to the government (but charging collectors instead) would be hard pressed to pass.

Oops.. Just saw this in the article by the other Mr Unser: “On related legislation, the Commemorative Coins Reform Act of 2013 seeks a change to modern commemorative programs. Under the terms of the bill, it would prohibit surcharges from being paid to private organizations or entities.”

Guess I’m too late on my idea for a nonprofit: “Kevin’s Koin Kollecting.org”

Overpriced. And I thought there was talk of discontinuing the special donations to charities that are tied to coins? Of course nobody would touch that political hot potato with this coin. Maybe I’ll start a nonprofit and ask for a coin with $10 going to me. Act now, the price goes up $5 soon.
