The mint has to order the packaging. If they don’t reorder, they must estimate how many they want to make early on. Then when they strike that number they stop. Somebody at the mint must plan the number they estimate that they want to sell for the year. It would be interesting to know what the estimates are.

My last order for these was Wednesday and it’s still pending. I hope I get it. This sellout should produce a jump in prices in online auctions.

Well the mint played games on Thursday. First they listed the 2013-W uncirculated silver eagle as sold out. Well low and behold Thursday evening the coin was listed back on sale with product availabllty first of January 2014. Now this morning (12/20/2013) the coins now again listed as sold out. This is about as bad as the Obama care, moving the market.
