In what has become a traditional end-of-year reminder, the United States Mint on Friday provided a single Web page filled with an array of 2012- and 2013-dated last chance products.

Found on the page are nearly two-dozen products, a notice that they will be available until noon ET on Dec. 31, 2013 and a countdown ticker that shows how many days are left to order.

Included in this year’s list are all the 2013 commemorative coins honoring United States Army 5-Star Generals and the Girl Scouts of the USA and their centennial. By law, the U.S. Mint is only allowed to sell these coins during calendar year 2013.

Also on the last chance list are the 7 remaining 2012 First Spouse Gold Coins, the 2012 Proof American Platinum Eagle and the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set.

Here is a listing of the last chance products, their current prices and their latest sales totals as of Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013:

The bureau notes that it will honor a 7-day return policy. If a return is made because of damaged product, the U.S. Mint will not guarantee a replacement but it will offer a refund.

Free Standard Shipping Promotion Extended

In another announcement, the U.S. Mint said it is extending its U.S. domestic free standard shipping promotion through to 5:00 pm ET on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. The promotion was originally scheduled to end today. To qualify, orders must be placed on the United States Mint website at www.usmint.gov/catalog.

Well, the text of the article includes the 2013 proof platinum coin and everywhere else only the 2012 coin is listed. My opinion is that 2013 coins should only be sold in 2013 so I’m sorry that the “2013” is probably a typo. My assumption is that they minted more than what was needed for 2012 and apparently 2013 also which is why they offer the coins past their year. Too bad they won’t mint up to what is sold (I know they can – they’ve done it before.) I do applaud the mint providing end dates for some coins… Read more »
