5-Star Collection, Taft $1s and Reverse Proof Buffalo Start August

0

This week was absent of new products from the United States Mint. That won’t be the case next week as the bureau kicks off August with three new products.

5-Star Generals Collection, Taft $1 Coin Cover, 2013 Reverse Proof Buffalo Gold
US Mint releases in early August include the 5-Star Generals Collection, the William Howard Taft $1 Coin Cover, and 2013 Reverse Proof Buffalo Gold Coin

By order of release, these include the 2013 5-Star Generals Profiles Collection, the 2013 William Howard Taft Presidential $1 Coin Cover, and the 2013 Reverse Proof American Buffalo Gold Coin.

As a quick reminder, these products will be the first new ones eligible for free shipping when they are ordered online.

Starting the week on Monday, August 4, is the 2013 5-Star Generals Profiles Collection for $74.95. Discussed previously here, the 50,000 limited-edition collection includes a:

  • 2013-W Uncirculated 5-Star Generals Silver Dollar,
  • 2013-D Uncirculated 5-Star Generals Half Dollar, and
  • Bronze replica of the 1962 General MacArthur Congressional Gold Medal

Both coins and medal are mounted within an easel-type packaging that has profile cards of the 5-star generals along with historic information about them and the military. The collection is a bargain because it is $2.95 cheaper than buying the two uncirculated coins separately, and it has more.

Upon its sales launch, orders for the 2013 5-Star Generals Profiles Collection are accepted from this Mint product page.

One day later, on Tuesday, August 6, the U.S. Mint releases the 2013 William Howard Taft Presidential $1 Coin Cover for $19.95.

This 27th issue in the American Presidency $1 Coin Cover Series includes two William Howard Taft Presidential $1 Coins from the first day of production at each U.S. Mint facility — February 11, 2013 for the Philadelphia Mint and February 6, 2013 for the Denver Mint. Both coins are mounted on a display card inside an envelope with a U.S. Patriotic Star stamp.

Collectors will find the 2013 William Howard Taft Presidential $1 Coin Cover on this Mint product page.

Rounding out the releases for the week is the 2013-W Reverse Proof American Buffalo Gold Coin. It launches on Thursday, August 8, with pricing decided on August 7. If the average price of gold continues within $1,300 to $1,349.99 an ounce, the reverse proof will debut at $1,690.00.

Previously discussed here, this special reverse proof commemorates the 100th anniversary of James Earle Fraser’s designs that appeared on Type I Buffalo (or Indian Head) nickels in 1913 and on Gold Buffalos since 2006. Unlike most Mint products, this coin has a four-week sales window that ends on September 5, 2013.

Ordering for the 2013-W Reverse Proof American Buffalo Gold Coin is accepted from this Mint product page.
