That is the total number of orders received by U.S. Mint from the set’s release on Tuesday, June 4, through to Monday, June 10. For the week, it was the Mint’s most popular numismatic product. The 2013 Mint Set accounted for revenue of just over $4.41 million since each one is $27.95.

Snapping a downward trend in recent years and as has been the case with other core sets released this year, its initial performance is comparable and perhaps even a bit better than last year’s set. An exact comparison between the two is impossible since their debuting reporting periods differ. Last year’s 2012 Mint Set opened with sales of 164,450 from a Monday to Monday time frame.

The following table offers debut sales and ending sales for the annually issued sets since 2007.

*Last year’s 2012 Mint Set unexpectedly sold out in about seven months as the U.S. Mint produced fewer of them. At 392,224, it represents the lowest mintage total since the 1962 Mint Set reached sales of 385,285. More could have sold as the last series of weekly gains included totals of 11,629; 9,921; 7,558; 5,490; 2,549; 3,613; 3,307; 2,206; and 1,979.

Found in this latest set are 28 uncirculated coins with 14 from the Philadelphia Mint and 14 from the Denver Mint.
