Gold dropped Friday but gained $14 on the week as a result of the prior three-day winning streak. Standard & Poor's on Friday downgraded the credit ratings of nine euro zone governments, including France and Austria. That news bolstered the dollar which pressured stocks, gold and other commodities.
Gold prices declined $16.9, or 1.0%, to $1,630.80 an ounce in the February futures contract on the Comex in New York [...]

2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Australian Gold Coin Nears Sell...
The Perth Mint of Australia on Thursday warned its customers that its 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Australian Gold Coin is nearing a sellout. From an already extremely limited mintage of 1,000, just 60 remain.
Released on January 3, 2012, the 99.99% fine proof gold coin honors the Queen's 60 years of reign, having ascended to the throne on February 6, 1952 with her coronation at the age of 27 as Queen Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953. The only other British monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee was Queen Victoria in 1897, the Queen's great-great grandmother [...]

For a second straight day, gold prices rose by exactly $8.10 or 0.5%. The February gold futures contract on the Comex in New York closed at [...]
