Grover Cleveland served two terms non-consecutively, separated by 23rd President Benjamin Harrison. In honor of Cleveland’s first service between 1885 and 1889, and in keeping the tradition of the medal set, one collectible uncirculated quality Grover Cleveland First Term Presidential $1 Coin and one Frances Cleveland bronze medal make up the set.

An illustrated plastic card holds the coin and bronze medal. On it are images of the Cleveland’s, their names and signatures, along with information on the back about the numismatic items that honor them.

Grover Cleveland first term $1’s were released earlier in the year, on May 25, 2012. Those products, found in 25-coin rolls, 100-coin bags, and 250-coin and 500-coin boxes, were struck in circulation quality although the strikes never entered circulation. The U.S. Mint still has them for sale, and at last count, production of Cleveland’s first term dollars reached 9,520,000. That number does not include the proof or uncirculated quality coins that are offered in U.S. Mint issued collector sets.

In the past, bronze medal duplicates of the First Spouse Gold Coins were made available in these Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets, the annual First Spouse Bronze Four-Medal Sets and also sold separately. This year to date, 2012 bronze medals have not been offered outside of the Presidential $1 Coin & First Spouse Medal Sets. For now, the only way to obtain a Frances Cleveland Bronze Medal representing her first term is by purchasing this set.

The Frances Cleveland Bronze Medal measures 1 5/16 inches in diameter and bears the same obverse and reverse images found on the Frances Cleveland First Spouse Gold Coins released last week. Inscriptions on the medal are limited to the obverse and simply state her name across the top of her portrait, and under it are "22nd" and "1886-1889." The years of service for the first term differ from husband’s because they were married in the White House more than a year after he was sworn into office.

Unrelated…… Mint website says $25 gold eagle proof is sold out. Pretty low production figures, I think.

Ummmmm…..$25 AGE proof is “Sold out” unless they come up with some sort of special edition packaging and add a significant premium, as they just did with the silver eagle proof coin!
