These latest strikes celebrate Grover Cleveland as the 24th President of the United States. They are the last of the four 2012 Presidential $1 coins. Earlier releases featured Chester Arthur, Grover Cleveland’s first term, and Benjamin Harrison.

Latest $1 Coin Production Figures

Since Presidential $1 coins are no longer minted for commerce, the U.S. Mint sells them directly to collectors. As of the end of October, the Mint had produced 14.6 million new Cleveland $1’s, which was more than the number of dollars struck for Cleveland’s first term. At last count, the first term issues reached 9.52 million.

Buyers have the choice of circulating quality dollars struck from Philadelphia with the "P" mint mark or from Denver with the "D" mint mark. The U.S. Mint is expecting more demand for the "P" coins, as indicated by the production splits for Cleveland’s second term dollars: 10.68 million from Philadelphia and 3.92 million from Denver.

Cleveland’s Second Term Presidential Dollar Rolls

Each roll consists of 25 coins and is priced at $32.95. Artwork on the wrapping includes the Mint’s signature white paper with a black stripe on each end. Printed on each are the title of product, "Presidential $1 Coin" and "Grover Cleveland (Second Term)", the face value of "$25," the origin of the roll, "UNITED STATES MINT," "www.usmint.gov" and the letter "P" or "D" for the production city.

Cleveland’s Second Term Presidential Dollar Bags

Grover Cleveland Presidential dollar bags are made of durable canvas and have 100 loose $1 coins in them. Each bag is priced $111.95. Markings on the bag include, "U.S. MINT," "DOLLARS" and "$100.00." A large tag, sewn at the top of the bag, displays the Mint’s logo as well as "2012," "Presidential $1 Coin," "Grover Cleveland (Second Term)," "UNITED STATES MINT," and either a "P" or "D."

Cleveland’s Second Term Presidential Dollar Boxes

Cleveland’s Second Term Presidential $1 Coin Design

Dollar obverses feature an image of Grover Cleveland, much like the earlier Presidential $1 coin that launched in May to commemorate his prior service. (See comparisons.) The new design, however, portrays the 24th President from a side angle and with slightly longer hair. As before, United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart designed and engraved both sides of the coin.

Obverse inscriptions are "GROVER CLEVELAND," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "24th PRESIDENT" and "1893-1897."

On the reverse is the common depiction of the Statue of Liberty found on every Presidential $1 coin. Inscriptions include, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "$1."

Every 2012 Cleveland dollar has edge-incused lettering of "2012," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the mint mark "P" or "D".
