Wow, the fact they are cutting off 2011 5 oz ATBs is interesting. Still not sure if I was smart or stupid buying this series.

I think you’re right. Like the quarters the first spouse was overkill and choosing gold was a big mistake, especially when the president coins were only $1. They would have sold a lot more had they used silver instead. But it’s Congress that made that decision, not the mint. I still look at Alice Paul as a commemorative coin and not a first spouse coin and I think it will have a higher secondary market value than any of the others. I think we have another 6 months to go before they kill Alice off.

I like that they are putting a deadline on the 5 oz ones. This gives some hope for the future if mintages will vary.

I don’t recall Lucy @ Lucretia being available that long. Seems they don’t are or don’t really want to sell FS. The rest of the offerings have been flogged to death. Guessing the mint way overproduced on all but FS which for whatever reason were underproduced. Someday down the line I suspect the FS will be what we all will wish we had purchased when we could have.

Wish they’d do this for coins they drop during the year, too (like uncirculated spouse coins, for example).
