The United States Mint is geared up for an active period, spanning the second week of August. Another Silver Eagle related product gets things started, followed by more San Francisco-made coins and a new Platinum Eagle.
Beginning Tuesday, August 7, a new item will go on sale, the Making American History Coin & Currency Set. The set celebrates the U.S. Mint’s 220th year of service and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing’s 150th anniversary with a 2012 San Francisco Proof American Silver Eagle and a Series 2009 $5 bill that will have a serial number beginning with "150."
The Coin & Currency Set will be priced at $72.95 each. The "S" Mint Silver Eagle and $5 bill will be mounted on a sturdy folder with a description of the two events and products. Orders may be placed via the U.S. Mint website on this product page.
Things heat up on Thursday, August 9 with three new product releases. 100-coin bags of San Francisco minted Acadia National Park Quarters will be released, each priced $34.95. On the same day there will be 40-coin rolls of the Acadia "S" quarters for $18.95 each. These specially minted quarters will be circulation quality but will not enter circulation. Instead, they are produced specifically for coin collectors.

The third product to launch Thursday, August 9 will be the 2012-W Proof American Platinum Eagle with the reverse design emblematic of the principle of the Preamble, "To Provide for the Common Defense." This one ounce 99.95% pure platinum collector coin will be assigned a price the day before its release due to it precious metal content.
Its mintage limit is 15,000 units, and there will be an initial household order limit of five. Orders will be accepted on this 2012-W Proof American Platinum Eagle product page.

Coin & Currency set 100,000 are being made. No odering limit. Just checked the Mints web site. Here we go again.
Not sure of quality rarity of the 2012 S proof but the limits placed on the coin and currency sales (100,000) will make it the second lowest proof coin ever produced. It will only trail the 1935 W. We can’t be sure of the exact number of 2 coin sets that were finally kept but we can be sure that there will be no more that 352,000 2012 S Proofs out there. It will be interesting to see the census reports as the prices for this coin could go anywhere.
